Revamped Mazda RX-7

Could you elaborate a little further please? On what basis are they making this statement? I would love to have the car come out, but all my sources are telling me that the current thinking is the little Mazda3 concept SUV won the day over the Kabura.

In the current Motor Trend (who has been correct a lot lately) stated Mazda is only going to build one of them, and the 3 based SUV won out over the Kabua

i love how everything mazda makes has the soul of a sports car...their ads have gone downhill in australia since theyre not allowed to advertise speed as a selling factor so in australia we dont have any mazdaSPEED products (because it promotes speeding/racing/hooligan behaviour apparently)

Why dont they ban McDonaldos ? Cuz they promote fat food
Why dont they ban Movies ? Most of them promote violence.
the list goes on=.

It's a tough business model case. A mainstream car company with 3 sports cars, low sales but street cred? Or make bank on crossovers and only have 2 sports cars?

I heard very diferently, the kabura was going to get a rotary engine, but mazda had to chose between the kabura and the second gen RX-8, they decided to go with the second gen rx-8
but mazda is keeping things so secret is imposible to tell if any of this rumors are thru, I am 100% begind mazda being more secret on theyr proyects, mazda is a small company with limited funds, they can not let the competititon know what they are up to because the competition will get a similar product out the door sooner than mazda can

agreed, but mazda could make them both, its not like they dont share plattform and most parts the only diference would be the body, the kabura would be a re-shape mx-5
the real question is if they can sell 2 rotary cars, is there market for them?

The RX-8 is fine just like it is.
A two seat, light weight version with a polycarbonate hatch back would be a great option.
I wrote Mazda 2 years ago.
I suggested they build the Kabura, then after a year, offer a light weight 2-seat rotary performance version.

I got my new Road & Track yesterday, wow, that artists take on the new RX-7 is hideous! And the color!? I think R&T is just taking a guess about the RX-7 because of the recent news that a new rotary will be out 2010. They also mention that it will be a 2+2 in the article, and the Kabura had a sliding rear door (I'm sure that could be added to both sides)which means it could be a 2nd gen RX-8 as well. Whatever it turns out to be it's good news for rotary enthusiasts.

Hell, no one could imagine Porsche making an SUV a decade ago and look how successful the Cayenne is.
