Richmond, VA area, keep your friday free if you can....
Please dont get your hopes up for this, its really not a huge deal. I learned today that at the mazda reman plant Yoshii(TT/Takayoshii, whatever) is coming back tomorrow and he is bringing the master with him(boss said simply call him Mazda)......The master aka the original rotary builder from mazda japan who is the trainer/boss of the small crew in japan. He has been there since they first started building them and is simply known as the Master by Yoshii.
Anyways I am going to try to take them both out to eat Friday night with a coworker or a few of us, I asked one of the boss's if it was ok he said ask the head boss tomorrow. If I get the yes I will take them out and drop by the Richmond weekly meet at starbucks(huegonot rd I believe) if any of you are up for it. I will find out tomorrow but if your interested in meeting who has been building your short block for the rx7/8 there may be a chance of it Friday night. The only issue is I dont want to really make them feel like celebrities, Yoshii barely understands english and the master pretty much doesnt from what I learned. Just figured since I am a Nissan Z fan and having a chance to meet Mr. K(father of the Z) would make my day maybe I can make your guys/girls day by giving you the opertunity to meet one of the main parts of building your engine before you get it.
I will post up tomorrow or the next day either way, me and a fellow coworker will come out to starbucks either way that night, we both have dropped by before.
A few last pics before I turned in the 09 btw....

I'm assuming someone at your location speak Japanese then? How about bringing him to translate and some questions for a quick Q&A? Nah guess they are tired of that sort of stuff, but I think you are lucky to work there and meet these guys, I'm a man with 10 thumbs myself so could never work on stuff like this, but sounds interesting.

Wow that sounds awesome. I would be willing to leave work early to try to make it down. When you have details let us know. I just need to know when and where! It would be a huge honor to meet them both. Will be hard not to ask for a picture with them, but like you said don't want them to feel odd. Hopefully you can make it happen. Thanks again!

The head of the plant can speak both but he is also from japan and pretty high up in mazda, I will offer the invite to everyone there anyways but I doubt he would want to go. Honestly I would prefer to go to a different spot then the usuall meet since its more of a every import meeting spot but since its the rx7/8 normal spot I will just go there. One thing to realize is in japan they train you to do a exact job and thats it, for instance yoshii can build the motor in a half hour but when he first came and saw that we are rebuilding them he was a little confused and unsure on how to disassemble since they dont rebuild motors in japan. In other words I know that yoshii is not mechanical when it comes to fixing a car, he just knows his job very well and I am not too sure for the master since I haven't hung around with him too much. So even if there was a translator they cant answer too many questions you may want answered, Yoshii drove a rx8 for the first time when he arrived here, funny to realize the person who more then likely built that motor had never gotten a chance to drive what he was building but its different in Japan.
Also if it does work out please dont drive too far, I wont make them hang out too long, I figure it would be nice for them to get out of there hotel and meet customers who might want to thank them. They might be willing to take a pic though, I have a few with them, they always give a thumbs up in every pic, kinda funny.
