Going to the Rolex24 at Daytona in Jan. I live in NH so needless to say I love to drive and love racing......anyhow, does anyone have experience with long road trips in thier RX8 lets say over 1k miles? Anything interesting (car related) happen?

YOu shouldnt have anything unusal happening if your car is well maintained. if you car can run 100 miles w/o problems then you can run 1000 miles w/o any problems. but just incase. change your fuilds and bring some coolant and motor oil (motor oil is a must to bring), and ofcourse lots of snacks.

I drove from El Paso, TX to Pittsburgh, PA a couple times. You shouldn't have any problems, but take some oil with you.

It is actually very comfortable on road trips, but like these fella said, bring the usual tools with you, esp. oil.

I just took a road trip, I will write a complete review of it later. It was fine, just bring the necessary tools.

Just got back from a 1600 mile round trip to Georgia and back, and it did great. The seats started to get a hair uncomfortable after about 8 hours though.

Just make sure you're up to date with your oil changes and check if yur gonna be passing an oil changing point through the trip. I did use about 3/4 of a quart to keep it topped off through the trip, but drove it VERY agressivly through the dragon and back (sitting from 6-8 K most of the way).

and just a personal pet peve...keep that brake dust cleaned up! After 1K, it starts to cake on pretty good...

Recently drove from Michigan, to Florida, to Michigan. Get an oil change before you go, and keep a quart or two in your trunk. Should be all you need, besides a change of socks. Oh, and if you don't have a map for driving the Blue Ridge Parkway or Deal's Gap between NH and FL sometime during your trip, I will smack you silly. No excuses.

I think the obvious excuse is that neither the BLP or Deal's Gap is nowhere near where he's going... The normal routing from NH to FL is mostly done on I-95. It's one thing if you're going to make your four-hour trip into a seven-hour trip, but if you're going from NH to Daytona, but adding a run through Deal's and going up the the Blue Ridge would add over 400 miles to what is already a minimum of a 1250mi trip from SOUTHERN NH (I don't know where he lives, but if it's further upstate, add even more to the trip). That assumes going straight from Daytona (on the way home) to the western tip of NC and then up to NH from there via the BLP.

I guess that's up to Speedtrap4. I know the BLP is a treat, and I've read about Deal's before, but with over 2500mi of driving staring me in the face, I don't know if I'd go that far out of my way. Besides, there are plenty of scenic highways and byways in the northeast that I'm sure he hasn't explored yet.

To answer the original question... You don't need to do anything different in this car vs. any other when it comes to long trips, aside from bringing a quart or two of your favorite oil and pack creatively.

Oh, and some might say that a clearbra or mask is a good idea before undertaking such an adventure. Just make sure you take that sucker off as soon as you can (the mask, that is).
