Hi guys,
I'm new and this is my 1st post. I live in Hong Kong and is seriously considering the new fairlady 350z or Rx8. Cost is HK$438,500(US$56,220) for 350z and 429,000(US$55,000)for Rx8. I must say I lean towards the 8 more than the z. The z needs an additional 50% loading for insurance here. The 8 is a Japanese version type S.
Besides the insurance and seating, can you guys give some insight on pros and cons of rotory vs. new z. Thanks alot guys, this is my first rotary car.
Also, there's word that a new Rx7 could be out at end of 06 in HK. The new 7 may have electronic turbo. What do you guys think?

of course the 8! (you're in an rx-8 forum) there are alot of comparison between these two cars and with all the ones i have seen, the rx-8 has pulled aheed, but just slightly. honestly you cant go wrong with either car, but the only thing i dont like in the 350z is the 2 door 2 seater, small trunk, and ugly interior. there are alot more mods out for the fairlady Z, so if you're into modding your car to the extreme then fairldayz would be a wiser choice.
but yeah, you cant go wrong with either car. i like the rx-8 better. i was also stuck with decision before buying the 8, and i ended up choosing the 8 and am VERY happy with my decision :D

I bought the 8 because you get more for your money and the performace is just about equal. They have us in HP slightly, but the Z cannot out corner an 8. Handling made up my mind for me. Good luck.

Thks guys, I just needed an extra push to seal the contract. To be honest, I'm really looking forward to the 8. The delivery time is 4 months. I'll talk to the dealer soon and will let u guys know update. By the way, the Hong Kong dealership told me that I can order MazdaSpeed parts from them and the warranty will extend as long as installation done thru their centre. But the catch is the parts must arrive at least 6 months after car delivery reasons for registration tax.
Just another sidenote, HK is a good place to work and the money can be rewarding if you're a foreigner with commercial and financial skills. Lots of activitys and nitelife. Most of my friends from overseas work for 5-10yrs in HK and save enuf to buy a nice house back in US and Can. But you must not get involved in politics here, don't go overboard in criticizing HK govn't and China in general. Just recently, 3 local commentators were threatened thru various means(incl. wife and children). Two had to quit and move out of HK to escape.
One last bit, our last Financial Secretary had to resign because he introduced a 100% tax on all new upscale vehicles. It turned out he bought a new Lexus430 himself just days b/4 announcing new tax. Sorry for the long post.
