I was successful at getting it down yesterday. Took about 7 hours. Speeds were around 23k/sec.

Now I have to burn it.

I too had a problem getting Roxio 5 Platinum to read this .ISO file ( I am running WinXP)

I WAS ABLE to get the .iso to burn to disc succesfully using Nero 5.5. Anyone can download this utility and use it in its' 'demo' state to make a CD from the ISO image.
I had a problem trying to burn the ISO after unzipping. By the way, I am also using Roxio 5 and it can't read the ISO properly. I will give NERO a shot, thanks for the tip.

I began downloading the RAR version but if I get the ZIP to work I will disconnect and let someone else get in the queue!

EDIT:
Ok that did the trick, NERO worked ROXIO didn't. UFCen2000 thanks for the tip and eccles thanks for putting it on the web!

Hmm, sorry if your having trouble burning the CD. I did create the ISO using Nero. This is the file that's up on the www.mackin.net FTP. Sometimes other programs have a hard time using each others "Universal" formats. I'll try to remaster the file again later. But if you don't want to bang your head agaist the wall then use Nero to Burn it. Sorry about the incovenice...

No big deal, I'm glad it wasn't just me. I found a program called ISOBuster that read the file fine. You can download it from CNET. Install ISO buster then open the file within it. Next extract the files for the CD to a directory on your computer. From there you burn the files like any other data CD. The program is free to try and works rather well. Or if you like just keep it on your harddrive it works fine there too.

I love it when univeral formats work so well, its great.

Thanks again for hosting I have enjoyed what i have viewed so far.

I think I might take the exam and see how I do before i watch the whole thing, just for kicks.

If you don't want to download and install Nero, take a look at burnatonce. It needs ASPI, but if you've got Roxio installed you've probably already got ASPI installed too.

BTW, I think the problem stems from some sort of weirdness with the original CD. My computer has a DVD-ROM drive and a CD-RW drive. The DVD drive refused to recognise the CD when I tried to do a disk-to-disk copy for MaRX8, though the CD-RW drive read it fine. This was the original disk from Mazda, not a copy made from the .iso.

'B's Recorder Gold 5' burnt the ISO file directly to a disc which works fine for me.

Everytime I start downloading, I get about 90% complete and someone resets the server connection. :P

Any other reliable locations to download this from?

No, the problem is that Roxio is a piece of $h|t! I made an ISO with Roxio that no other program could burn but Roxio. I hate Roxio, and I love Nero. Roxio can go bankrupt and burn in flames as far as I'm concerned. It doesn not offer a lot of features, either. A waste.

wow.. geez... kinda don't like Roxio either eh? Yeah.. Nero is much better IMHO... I gets all; the things I need to get done... done.

Anyways.. we digress

I though the CD was very imformative about the car..... it'll be nice to able to throw down this kind of knowledge on a dealer that is trying to BS me about something:D

Try using a program that allows you to resume downloads. That might help. Or a download acclerator.

Wow......took me about 22 hours to download, but well worth it.

This thing is awesome! Tons of information about the mechanics/electronics on the car.

I'll be setting up an FTP server first thing in the morning. It took me all day to download the thing, and it was still going when I left work (and I can't get to the machine from home to set it up). I'll post info when it's up.

We need mirrors. I've been trying to download for days. With people saying it's taking them about a day to download I'll never get on.

OK, I have an FTP mirror setup with the RAR version of the TechHighlights file. I'm going to limit it initially to 2 connections as others have done (because I don't know what impact it's going to have on our network) -- If it doesn't seem to cause problems I'll increase it.

server IP: 12.5.16.196
login: RX8
password: renesis

Enjoy!

I just double-checked and it does. The login is case sensitive -- I was monitoring activity and I did see someone try to login with "rx8" instead of "RX8".

I didn't really want to make it all caps, but I wanted to keep it consistent with the other mirrors people have put up. The password is lowercase.

I've raised the connection limit to 4. Remember that when you download the file to switch to BINARY mode (as opposed to ASCII)!

thanks for the download MaRX8! it took 4 hours but it was well worth it!

PS - if you guys go this route, make sure you download a download manager...i used Internet Download Manager and it opened up 5 streams downloading concurrently...without it, the download stopped short everytime and i couldn't continue...

Thanks to the people who mirrored the file on their FTP servers. I've shared mine on the eDonkey network. If you have a client like e-Mule (http://www.emule-project.net/), you can search for "techhiglights" to find my share.

BUMP!

Just wanted to give the "new" people a last chance to download this CD image before I take it down off my mirror server. If I don't see any activity by the end of the day I'll go ahead and take it down. Otherwise I'll wait another day.

FTP server: 12.5.16.196
Login: RX8 (case-sensitive)
Password: renesis
Filename: TechHighlights.rar

(don't forget to specify BINARY transfer in your FTP client!)

Good call. On similar lines, I'm going to pull the uncompressed .iso image off my server soon, and probably either the .zip or the .rar too, leaving only one version available.
