What's important for Mazda fans is how strong the Mazda styling DNA has become. How many cars out there does the RX-8 look like? That's right...none.

I never had him, but he had a reputation for being an arrogant *****. He also had begrudgingly admitted in classes that one of the reasons the 944 left the North American market was because the FC RX-7 undercut it by more than 10K and they were outmaneuvered by Mazda.
So I decided nothing would be more fitting, than for me to park my '87 FC turbo (looked identical to the one above - color and all) next to his Audi every chance I could get.

The 944 was never pulled out of any market. It was replaced with the 968.
944 sales started to tank (worldwide) in 1987 and the 968 did nothing to stop the slide, until the car was finally done in by the same sports car slump that eventually killed the FD.
It is true that the lower-priced Japanese competition hurt Porsche, and that the 944 was overpriced. The original 944 and 944 Turbo were bargains but Porsche got greedy and jacked the prices up ridiculously.
