Question Rotary question

would it make any difference if you swap the rx8 rotor and put it in a rx7 motor?

Uh, yeah. Which RX-7 motor you talking about, anyway? Turbocharged?

I think he wants to know if you could swap out the ROTOR in the rx-8 and put in a (rew?) engine.

Well the exhaust ports are completey different on the housings therefore the seals(side and apex) and springs strengths on the rotors are designed to handle different heats I would imagine....different metal types/sizes. Then again I haven't touched a rx7 motor outside of the brand new ones. Also the rotor bearings may not be able to slide on to the ecc. shaft(different shaft size maybe) small things that may be different and so on. I am sure I am forgeting other reasons it wont work but I am tired, toured DC all day and I am beat.

Assuming you could make an older 13B (not 12A) rotor work in a newer 13B Renesis, I still don't understand why you would want to. Just to save money, maybe? The Renesis rotors are lighter weight, which is a good thing.

Not to mention the rx-8 and the rx-7 have different grooves of the rotor that has to go onto the eccentric shaft since they don't use the same one. Or are those parts interchangable.

Anyway, I really don't think it will work for all the above reasons that sleepy-z had said... Try asking someone on the forums who has done the 13b Rew conversion on the forums. I'm sure someone has done it.

Heheh, Im gonna beat you to the 200th post

I'm not talkin about the whole motor of the Rx8, I'm jus wonderin if you can swap an rx8's (1 rotor) replacing a rotor of an Rx7's 13brew engine.

Oh, now I understand. Probably only a few people here that can give you a definitive answer 'though. I would email/PM Paul at Mazmart, BDC, or rotary ressurection. Suspect there's more people that can give you an answer over at RX7Club. Good luck!
