Rumor about delay
This could be totally false so please take it as you wish. A San Antonio dealer told one of its pre-order customers the reason for the delay and holding of the cars was there is an issue with engine overheating. There is no proof of this but the dealers word. I wonder if thats why Mazda sent out the test cars. Hopefully there is an easy fix if this is the case. Take this rumor as you wish and lets hope it is not true.

Overheating? Naaaaah....... after all this time the 8 has been in prototype....pre-pro..... testing... more testing... etc etc .. How long has it been?? 2 maybe 3 years? (correct me if I'm wrong)
I dont think an overheating issue would crop up now..
But hey, you never know.....

Well, a Mazda mechanic over here told me that he had heard rumours from within Mazda that one of the reasons for the delay in Europe was additional tweaking to get the RX-8 Autobahn-proof. No idea whether this has anything to do with facts.

There's an old saying, "Better an empty house than a bad rumor (roomer)". This is true again.
Not only has the RX-8 gone through extensive testing, they are on the road in Japan already and so far, no complaints of this nature from any owners.
I believe you'll see some people (the lucky ones on the west coast) will be in their new rides for the Holiday weekend. Let's just wait and see...
