RX-7 Coming Back in 2011?

Considering the article is about an hour old at this point I didn't figure this had been posted yet. Not sure if I trust it when they say "an anonymous source at Mazda revealed to one of our spies in Japan" but its going to be really interesting to see whats going to happen.

Interesting, but I sincerely hope the HP numbers are higher than 250. If not, the thing better be light weight enough to let it compete with the other cars on the market now.

I really, really hope the next car will have 300 hp. By the time it comes out, I'll be able to afford a car

power numbers don't matter. Power to weight is what matters.

It takes a really focused car like Lotus Elise to get good hp/ton with <250 bhp.

well there goes the "no compromise performance machine" promise. from the sounds of it it seems like it'll be slower than a 2001 rx7... oh well by the time it comes it i'll probably have to get a sedan anyhow. just wished the numbers were a little nicer. i'm getting too old for a car that looks faster than it really is.

It looks like the Z will still be faster, they are talking 350hp at around 3000lbs with good torque but the concept drawings they have out look like crap. The RX-7 looks much better but we must remember these are the magazines articles creating what they think the car will look like based on descriptions.

Here is a little food for thought when the 16x was re-veiled I remember reading that it would have 20% better HP then the current model. That would put it at 278 HP.

Hopefully they can get some better fuel efficiency going and develop a good double clutch transmission for this. :D
