RX-8 AccessPORT

Hello,

I am looking at buying an AccessPort but I had a question about the MazdaManiac customization service (extra $100).

Do I need this if I am running a fully stock 2003 RX8 type S from Japan? Does the AccessPort without the $100 service include maps for my car that I can re flash to?

I am mainly wanting to adjust the idle speed so was looking at this tool.

Chris

I think you get a base map with it. If you are already buying the AP why not spend a little bit of extra money and get the tuning service?

You should get some benefit, maybe some other people who are stock and have the AP can chime in.

Do you not ever plan on upgrading anything?

Good point.

One last thing, can the AccessPort update the firmware of the PCM or does it just change the values?

Mazda are going to charge me $150 to update my PCM so wanting to find out if I could do this myself.

If you don't want to pay the extra for the custom service. Then buy one used on here the going rate is about $350-$400. That's what I did and it is currently in the post.

It comes with a performance tune and an economy tune.

You cannot adjust the idle speed or the rev limit with a cobb accessport!

IT IS JUST A TOOL THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO LOAD A NEW MAP OR MONITOR YOUR CARS VITALS

What mods would best compliment the accessport with MM map?

The question is "What mods would best compliment the Accessport with MM Tuning?"

On a NA vehicle
Stock intake or MS/AEM CAI, Cat delete midpipe, BHR Coils. Probably headers as well but I'm not in the loop on NA headers.

IMO

However opinions will very

WCS is incorrect.

You can get the redline adjustment or idle change.

However, there is no need for it.

I have seen stock cars get 20 more ponies to the rear wheel using a MM tune.
Check out the Southern California section and several members will attest to these results

That's not me that is banned. I have been away for along time and am unaware of anything concerning MM.

Just stating facts about what a tune can due with the Access Port.

I meant, wasn't MM banned from the forums?
I was looking to buy an accessport & his tune but I checked his profile and last time I saw, he was banned.

you're posting in the wrong section, I suggest using the search function in the troubleshooting section

and WCS is right ... no map for you!!!!

Unless you can bribe Jeff to give you one ... doubt you'd be able to get a copy of ATR for a JDM either.
