rx-8 alarm question
Hi All.
I have had my 2005 RX-8 Shinka for a few months now. I bought it new, shortly before the 2006's came out. I loved that color!
Anyway, After going away for the weekend I found that the battery had drained. I jumped it with my other car, no problem. A few weeks later, I went on vacation for a week and when I came back, the battery was drained again.
It was clear something wasnt right, so I took it in to my dealer. When I came to pick it up, they said that the alarm that had been put in was the problem, and they replaced it with a genuine "mazda alarm sensor". I opened the hood, and see that there is no alarm speaker anymore. When I use my alarm, it doesn't do the trademark noise - it just locks the doors.
Does anyone know what a "genuine mazda alarm sensor" is, and if it is not supposed to make a sound? If it's not supposed to make any noise, how it protects my car in the slightest?
Thanks

I had sort of the same problem with mine...except they didn't feed me any crap about the alarm. Basically just told me my battery was crap and put a newer stronger one in. I think there have been problems with the battery from the factory for the 2005 models. Are you still using the original battery? Sounds like to me they didn't want to change out the battery so they took out the alarm sensor so it wouldn't be using any juice while not running

The Mazda system that comes with the car doesn't issue a "chirp," but the hazard lights flash once (this will occur when you press the Lock button once on the remote fob). If you press the door lock button twice, the horn sounds.
I don't know if the "mazda alarm sensor" that was put on your car is related to the OEM system or not.
