RX-8 becoming a lemon?

is the rx-8 becoming a lemon, or otherwise POS?

wit this new overheated(?) thing, and now climate control not working even where it is availible, and everything else that is now seemingly way below what was promised, what is the future of this vehicle? is it already doomed to failure? is it alerady, a "lemon"?

It runs hot when its 30+ degrees. why is that a problem. So does my current car.

Air con /cc wont cool you down to -5 under any circumstance either.

TBH I could care less about the CC. I want a great sports car, if I want luxyury I'd go buy a lexus.

hehe, well unfortunately it's not a great sports car either as we've been finding out...innovative sports car? yes...awesome performance sports car? no...good enough to get by sports car? ok...

on the other hand, did the high expectations, low delivery upset me to the point that i want to cancel my order? never...i don't want a great sports car, per se...i want a great all around car and this is it...

It's so hard posting here! Maybe I'm not expressing myself well but it seems everything I say gets jumped on with exaggeration.

All I've said is "the car is suprisingly hot" and "climate control doesn't work". Overnight the threads become "car liable to meltdown" and "A/C does not function".

I understand you guys are anxious but please try to keep a grip on reality over these last few weeks until yo get your cars!

If you need any more convincing then look at JSuzuki's first drive for how happy it makes people the first time you're in it!

everyone is just soooo anxious, that's all. can't say that i blame them for getting nervous. but i understood you JSG! no worries over here.

it reminds me of Xmas, seeing the little kids asking the grownups when they can open the gifts...trying to get some sort of hint on what they are getting.

Thumbs up HAPPINES

JSG most toys make people happy when they frist get them but i intend to keep this car for 3-4 years so it has got to give me more than that initial rush of newtoyness. While i try to remain open minded ,there are some concers that get under my skin .Here in australia it can get up to 45 degres celcius ,so i can understand concerns re heating and cooling issues ,its no fun driving specially with passengers in the rear if they arent getting adequate cooling inthe back of the car. This car has not only to please the driver but also the passengers ,climate control not working is not a concern as such ,butwhat others items that are not working correctly are an issue.Theres more to a good motor car than just a great engine and hopefully the rx8 will deliver it for us ,but i for one am not getting carried away with the greater than sliced bread retoric .Youre comments are valued by all and in most cases are not misunderstood .

we haven't heard any truly lemonizing comments yet. it's too early to tell.

it's interesting to observe various folks' reactions to stress. some perform better, some deal, some melt-down. this is stressful. there are some people who will make the extreme emotional switch from being in love with their vehicle decision to hating it and trying to tear it down rather than face up to the anxiety produced by the last couple days of waiting. heaven forbid it might not be perfect. guess what? it won't be, but it's going to be a lot of fun for the majority of us.

That's what I'm talking about. As far as I'm concerned, the more heat blowing out of it - the better! That's less that's trapped under the hood and in the housings.

As for people getting disappointed over performance...we'll have the last laugh. Look at past rotaries in stock vs. modified forms. What a great motor!

"Take a pill and relax! "

who says im not relaxed?:D blahahahahhaha

anyway, good point with the blowing of heat out, but is that enough to keep the engine cool enough to prevent problems?

and this thing with the AC is realy bugging me, cause i hate a hassle, and i like to be comfortable

Sounds like it gets as hot there in Australia as in Tucson. I used to spend summers in Tucson with my grandparents and I know what that intense heat feels like. I'll be anxious to hear from you guys how the car's A/C system does in your climates.

I couldn't wait any longer to get a 3rd car. I bought a used Mini Cooper S a couple weeks ago. Talk about teething problems. Many of us Mini owners have a stumbling problem in 1st gear that was brought on by a recent revision to the ECU software. We're all waiting for BMW to fix it, and threatening to take lemon law action if they don't fix it soon. I still like the car but obviously want it fixed. I still like the RX-8 too though, and told my teenage son that if the Mini doesn't work out we'll trade it for an RX-8.

A rotary of any generation will MELT a glasspack muffler in 6 city-blocks. High temps are normal for these engines. We're just not used to having functional vents on the bodywork (except for FD owners, of course ).

Whoa! A "lemon"?

The definition of a lemon is a car that breaks down repeatedly and cannot be fixed. Has anyone here said their RX-8 has broken down and can't be fixed? How can a car be called a "lemon" if nobody (I'm generalizing to the U.S.) even has one yet?

Are there some legitimate concerns about engine heat and other things? Yes. Do we know that they will be problems? NO!

If you read the initial post carefuly that descibed the climate control as inadequate, you will clearly see what the forum member was expecting. He basically wanted the fanspeed at '1' and no cooled air directed at the occupants. He then went on to compare the climate control system of SL500 Mercedes with no disernable airmovement.

So basically it didnt cool the car with the fan on the lowest setting. Are we all that picky? Dont get me wrong, I'm a sweaty bastard, like freezing cold AC and live in a very humid climate. I frankly like one or two vents directed on me, and I wont at all be upset if my fan speed in half way up. It sounds like it will cool just fine for me. ....just a thought

lemon law is a car that spends 30 working days in the first year for warranty repairs or 3 attempts to repair a single failure.i no this first hand cause my current car has been in 72 days and 5 attempts to repair.[dont buy svt focus]mine is in the process of being bought back and im going to take a chance on the 8 [cant get any worse than my current pos]the 8 has a great warranty and being that it is a new car THERE WILL BE SOME SMALL PROBLEMS GUARANTEED.ive never seen a new model anything not have some sort of warranty or service bulletin come out and lets face it we are mazdas official test crew.if you want a flawless machine buy a honda thats been unchanged for a few years.i work for honda marine and there new 225hp v6 outboard with vetc [stright out of accord or acura line]has so many updates/bulletins i had to make its own 3 ring binder. bottom line,if you want no problems what so ever and our going to freak if it farts dont buy a first year car.

good point, but i NEED MY BABY! everyone time i see it, i want it more i think, probably the same for all of us goddamn...

i just donw want a car with any problems, although if you REALLY want a car without any problems, you get the cheapest thing you can find, new, with manual everything and as close to 0 electronics as possible IE my moms kia sephia, wnet 210k miles and she DID NOT take care of it at all. didnt go to any of the "check-ups" hadrly ever chagned the oil lol. me and my brotehrs BEAT THE CRAP out of the thing lol.
so she baught a new one for 6 grand lol

handles surprisingly well too, i take its due to the fact that the thing barely has shocks lol!:D
great vehicle though, as a pure mode of transportation, with no bells or whistles of any nature

Not had any faults since getting it on May 9. Not heard of any others - East Moon and Yuhki are fine.

I don't wish I didn't have it. Does that make sense? I mean, I still like & want it!

There - does this mean I can start the worries in one thread and close them in another?!
