RX-8 is Coming!
On Saturday afternoon I picked up a Silver GT for a 3 day test drive, before you get excited I know the Manager, and just returned it a few hours ago. Driving that car brought me back to the days when I drove a 79 RX-7 that was street ported, although the car is newer the feeling is the same, AWESOME!
Although there was a black demo available, my buddy pulled out a Silver one (Cuz he knows I like it silver) with only 13kms on it, it was also one that just arrived a week ago. He had one of the boys peel all the white stickers off and give it a quick wash, he then sent it out for a fill up. I received the car with a full tank of gas brand spankin' new ready to go. Since I had the feeling that I may purchase this car I drove it as if it were my own, no abuse (not that I would anyway, I have too much respect for these cars).
From 3:00pm on Saturday to 3:00pm on Sunday I had already racked up 360Kms (223 Miles) on it, the gas gauge showed 1/4 tank left. By the end of the night Sunday I filled up just as the light went on, this was after 410Kms (254 Miles). I don't know how many kms more I could have driven with the fuel light on. If the fuel mileage gets a bit better after the engine has had its work in period I am pretty satisfied with it's fuel mileage especially if it gets close to 450kms by then. Most of my driving was with shifts between 3000 and 5000 RPMs, I would also give it a few pulls to 6000 for fun from time to time.
Tonight I dropped the car off and signed on the dotted line for the car I test drove, I should be picking it up next Monday or Tuesday. There is a delay as I am getting the 6-Disc swapped for an MP3 Player which is not in stock. I am also getting the windows tinted, as well I am buying Alloy Rims with Winter rubber from them that were used on the black demo last winter for a reduced price.
So there it is, after many months of reading about everyone buying these beauties I could not resist any longer, next week I will be part of the cult and a very happy man!! :D
