DD at least 40 miles each day, if it were a two seater or convertible I probably wouldn't have sold my old car.

I didn't buy it with the DD intention but When I go to work I always end up grabbing the RX keys Its a heck of lot more fun to drive than my 01 chevy full size express van.(they get about the same gas mileage though) When I need the van for work I usually send one of my workers over to my house to pick up the van ( I fortunately only live about 4 miles from work).

Yep ... another daily driver ... about 65 miles every weekday .... then my wife drives a bunch on the weekends (and I get to drive the Odyssey!). I hate to bring up the mileage thing again, but I get BETTER mileage on my 8 then on my Odyssey (Odyssey is almost 100% used for city driving, I average 14-15 mpg, ~21 when I take long family trips). But I am having so much fun with the 8, I DON'T CARE!!

Don't fully get your question. My 8 is my primary car. It is my DD for a 70 mile daily commute, over 20k miles now. But I autox it also. So I guess my question has to do with the last part "doesn't race it or anything". I can't imagine an 8 owner (at least an MT 8 owner) that doesn't "doesn't race it or anything". Is there anyone that doesn't, at least occasionally, floor it and enjoy the effects, whether it's a quick start from a stop light or a quick down shift and pedal to the metal to pass a slow car in the passing lane. I do both on a regular basis, and yes I expect the car to last several hundred thousands of miles. If not, then the redline is set wrong by Mazda.

That's why I bought the RX-8, as my only car, as a "do all" sports car. It seats four, has a large trunk (for a sports car), and can haul a lot of cargo on the back seats. It's also quiet (for a sports car) and has a soft ride (again for a sports car) while maintaining good performance.

If I had room for two cars, I might have purchased a Nissan Z-350 or Honda S2000 plus a SUV instead of the RX-8.

Daily driver. Average 100 miles per day.

Very comfortable. This car has it all. Better than my $45k Audi TT for $10k less.

My 8 is my daily driver, just as my '94 RX7 was my daily driver before I got the 8, and my '86 RX7 before that. What an odd question. Are you implying they're too fragile or undependable to be someone's everyday car?

It will be a great company car!

My company gives me a generous allowance for a car and pays for all the gas. I'm responsible for maintenence, insurance, etc.

My drives across Northern Florida will not be as boring and I'll actually look forward to driving on the backroads of Southern Georiga now!

:D

Also my experience, no major problems. But tons of fuel (I estimate 102 fillups so far) and about 1 qt of oil every three weeks or so.

Bought as a DD. I can't stop drivin' it. I commute from the 'burbs about 50 miles round-trip. I've had mine since Saturday and I am already at 1172 miles (however, it did have 513 miles when I purchased it).

Count me too - 6500 miles since 12/1/3

My wife and I have three vehicles between us, but I take the "8" for my daily drive almost every time. She doesn't drive it at all. Snow tires and winter wasn't a problem. We usually drive one of our bigger vehicles when the kids (2) are along for the ride. Hence the lower milage.

daily driver...

with one major problem...when I have to drive my girlfriends Lexus RX300 I have a difficult time gauging when to stop since I have gotten used to the RX8 which stops on a dime. Oh and I can't stand driving other cars now.
