I had a 3-hour drive last night, so my mind was wandering a lot in the torrential rainfall and I actually wondered the same thing as Shoafb. Light weight, fewer moving parts, capacity to take high rpm's and ability to sit practically in the middle of the car--those things aside (or taken into consideration, however you look at it), seems like a more powerful engine would have made the car a better all-around performer and would allow us to claim more than handling on the twisties, etc.

We are half-way through the 2005 model year and they haven't sold all the '04s. May not mean anything but to me it is not a good sign.

Hmmm, warm the car up, and add oil every now and then. I do that anyways. The rotary was just another thing that I though made this car unique.
The car looks great, has 4 doors and a USABLE back seat. I think the extra rotary care, and lack of HP/TQ associated with it is what is throwing alot of buyers away from the car. Geez people are out there buying 30k EVO's!! I mean.... LOOK at that car! You'd think it cost 15-18k. It's the opposite with the 8, most think it cost more than it does.
