This is what rides in mine.. she has ridden in the front and back with no problems. I put a towel down and grab a hand towel to deal with the drool

When my 90-pound rottweiler rides in my car, I put down a blanket over the front passenger seat. But whenever possible, she rides in my wife's Forester rather than the 8 .

FREE ADVICE!
We have 2 cats and a dawg. NO WAY would I let any of them in my car.
Don't get me wrong, I love our animals!
I even volunteered our cats for the next Ford, Sportka commercial.

I've got two little poms and they ride in my 8 in their carriers. I love them to death, but their claws would scratch up the leather like crazy. As for my 94 lb. lab, he isn't allowed anywhere near my car.

I have a Shih Tzu and she goes to work with me daily and does take trips with us. I got a black towel to place over the consol so that it does not get scratched. I praise those who place there pets in carriers or seat harnesses. I don't and have been so lucky but . . . .
This weekend while traveling with my husband in our Avalanche, no dog, some one stopped suddenly and we went off roading down a ditch, back up and airbound (we were doing around 60). I had my seat belt on and I was the only thing still in the orginal place except for my husband, he had the death grip on the wheel. HE DID SO GOOD! Kept us from hitting the car, a telephone pole and a guidewire. Kudos for Z71 suspension too. Truck preformed as it should.
All I could think about is thank God our Brendee wasn't in the truck.
I will look for a harness this week and you bet she'll be strapped down from now on.
She doesn't like my car cause the seat sets to low and all that looks out the window is a little black nose, got to be so cute to see from the outside.

Memories - we picked up a pup that feel out from under a explorer on a highway and skidded to a stop, she survived and we decided to keep her. She tore up every piece of living room furniture while gone for a couple hours. So i can feel your pain.
It takes 18 months to get out of that stage, most people will not wait it out, we almost didn't and we know this. We verbally treated her everyday that today was going to be the day she finds a new home but we never did and we got past the 18 month stage and so glad as always that we didn't give up.
You now know why there are so many puppies at the shelters and along the road dead, people give up.
