RX-8 Encounter at Laguna Seca
I've been lurking these forums for a while and took active interest in the RX-8. One of my good friends is a parts manager at Galpin Mazda and was formerly in the Honda fold before. As a die-hard Honda fanatic, I wouldn't think of owning any other car. My friend knows this and said to check out the RX-8. Owning nothing but Hondas with an '01 Integra GSR and '91 NSX in my stable, I took a look at the RX-8 at the dealership. Was very impressed with the car.
Today I visited Laguna Seca since I was driving by and spotted about a dozen different cars parked next to each other. Apparently some magazine was doing a test of all the cars through a set up autocross course. I went snooping around and found a guy that was gassing up a red RX-8. Got to talking with him and he showed me the car. He started the twin rotary engine and WOW! That engine sounds sweeeeeeeeeet all the way through the rev range. First time I ever heard the rotory engine. It reved so smoothly and effortlessly. Took off the engine cover and got a good look at the engine. I'm beginning to like this car a lot more and hearing the engine and watch it driving away really quickly kept my eyes glued to it. I'm having thoughts of losing the GSR and going for an RX-8.
I'm a Honda guy and very loyal to the mark but this Mazda RX-8 is sure doing an excellent job pulling me away from the Honda stable. It may possibly succeed. The NSX will stay with me though.

Dude, there is nothing wrong for being a true car fanatics and wanting to own the very unique Rotary Engine. Trade in the GSR and live the dream of a true Japanese Sports Cars lover of having two of the most beautiful sports cars in the Stable !
(then all you need is the Skyline GT-R, and the Toyota Supra to complete the collection :D )

I can answer your dilema 1st hand. I also owned a '01 Integra GSR first hand. I loved the car (aside from it being prone to theft). I also loved Hondas (once again - aside from them being prone to theft). I grew up dreaming of one day owning a Prelude. Once I test drove the 8, it was no contest. I got the 8 once my lease was up. So far, everything about the 8 beats the Integra hands down, except for gas mileage - eh you can't win them all. Test drive the 8 and we will welcome you to the owners club.

I remember hearing once that the 8 turned a lap time identical to the NSX at Laguna Seca... if that helps your attraction to the 8 at all.
I'm sure somebody will link to that info.. I'm at work and don't have time to search right now..
