If it's an AT that you're getting....get a G.

I am sorry but the G35 has damn near the sweetest exhaust note I've heard. Also it is really classy and more of a business man's car. The 8 is more for the driving enthusiast, th eG35, for a business man who wants to have occasional fun. I'd take a Shinka Rx-8 over a G35 but a G35 looks tempting next ot other Rx-8s. you are compairing 2 of the few currently made cars that I like and that would be really hard for me. I have said rotary for life however and I don't think the G35 would bring me as many thrills as another 50/50 weight Rotary vehicle would, but damn near close. I'd really say think about what car you could see yourself in more fittingly. By your first post, it sounds like you thoroughly enjoyed what the 8 had to offer and for less than a G35, you can get all the modern day luxury items you would need (not want, but need, hell even some wants that you'd never need(self-leveling HIDs for example). I'd save money and ride in style with an Rx-8.

One more thing, a common aphorism :"Harmony seldom makes a headline." This basically says you aren't going to see as many good things about any car when you browse that car's forums because th eowners won't post to complain about what all is going RIGHT, they'll post when a problem arouses and this always gives the impression that there is a higher percentage of faulty vehicles than "perfect" ones.

If you're getting an AT there's no contest IMO. Get the G35, the AT RX-8 is downright anemic. Plus you're making it sound like the G35 doesn't handle, it handles well, just not as well as the RX-8.

I was rearended about a month ago and have been driving an 06 G35 sedan for the meantime. Love the car. Decent power and makes one hell of a sound when you womp on the gas. The extra seat has been convenient and you can fit 4 bodies in the trunk (in theory) compared to the 8's two and one stump (all theory). I guess it all depends on your needs.

I have both...my wife and my girlfriend

I have both an RX-8 and the G35...I ride the R when I need to get relaxed and have some excitement...I drive the G when I'm in no hurry and just want to cruze...in the long run my G gives me the reliability and hassle-free pleasure I enjoy...but the R reminds me of my high-school sweet-heart (240Z) who always got me going and coming back for more...

well just to update whoever's been following, after a couple more test drives, i've decided to go rx-8 AT, yeah i know it doesn't have much kick like the MT, but i'm not looking to race it down the line or whatever.
Now another question, are the recall problems fixed with the 06 models? I might get a used 06 GT from the dealership, or just wait for December to come and get a brand new 06 Touring.
Also, is it true that the flooding problem is fixed with the 06 models. I tend to move my car in and out of my parking lot I'm very much vulnerable to flooding.
