I dont know. I drove the RX-8 for 40 miles in the cold on a lot of trips less than 15 min. The car used 2.7 gallons! God, this car is thirsty.

Lots of short trips like that, with warmup, and then turning off kill the mileage in this car. I used to drive to work every day on a two mile commute. Now THAT would kill my mileage

Good day I am the RX-8's patron saint of poor fuel economy, I do love to bashing Mazda for this car's crappy fuel economy and their shitty attitude towards it.

11 to 12 mpg city, Mazda has confirmed this is normal for the RX-8, if I baby the car (revs always under 3K) I have gotten 13.5 mpg city.

Highway has been 16 to 21mpg depending how I drive it. With cruse control I could probably hit 22 to 23 mpg.

Some report better, I have not seen it myself and again MAZDA SAYS THIS IS NORMAL MILEAGE FOR AN RX-8.

Enjoy.

I heard that you can lean your engine to make it run faster and save a little bit of gas, but that would require you to get a test pipe so you don't burn your converter....

maybe a new air intake would help also

Opening posts are sort of amusing, in retrospect.

But I agree:

This thread must die

Please, Mods--put it out of its misery!!

if anything, eating less pies will surely help increase gas mileage by keeping the driver's weight down. So brocollis and peas for all!

According to J.D. Power, the number one complaint of Hummer H2 owners is gas mileage (this is true, not making it up).

Reuters News Service: Hummer owners, frustrated with the vehicle's excessive fuel consumption, ranked the SUV last in the latest JD Power initial quality survey, according to Reuters. In the survey of consumers during the first 90 days of ownership,

No one said they were smart. They did buy a hummer afterall.

Alright let me try and put a nail in this Zombie's coffin.

For all those people that actually want to talk about gas mileage I did a 15 second search on "gas mileage" and pulled up the meaningful threads. Have it it!
