You mean you can easily afford 93

Most people could(if you cant thats a REAL problem ...), but the point is that, why waste the money if it works on the lower grade. not to mention all fuel are the same, except for the stuff that they add in before they go to your local pump.

I have been doing 93 all the time, now Im thinking should I try some 89 for now, its freezing *** cold out there. 89 should be fine. (I wouldnt do 87, cuz I premix a lot)

whoops! Yeah, I meant 93 there. LOL

In the winter I ONLY use 87. In warmer weather, I "read the room" as to what sort of driving I'm going to do for the next 200-some miles/few days that the tank will last. If I'm going to be doing a lot of stuck-in-traffic, high heat driving, especially mixed with some performance-oriented driving on a weekend, my Jewish guilt kicks in and I buy the 93. Not that it seems to make any difference. If I'm heading out for a steady-state cruise on the highway, 93 is pointless for that - at 4000 RPM/80 mph on level ground, the car is at like 10% load ... no need for the high-priced juice.

NY and Stew, agree with that. I've noted elsewhere that my 8 runs fine on 87, haven't noticed a difference in power with different octanes. Heat, spirited driving the ocassional Shell V-power. I've always maintained the same that you should go with the better brands because of better additive packages. The "budget" stations use the cheaper additives. I'll pay a few cents more for Chevron or Shell 87 over the budget "no names" before I would put "no name" 89 in the 8. As NY said it is all "spec" gas that is shared from the pipelines with the additives put in before delivery.

When I lived in the Midwest I would use high Octang in summer and low in winter.

I can't see the use of high Octane when it 40 degrees or colder.

Usually 20 degrees or colder.

Subdivisions

I always use BP 93.
I have never even considered using a lower octane.
This car is considered a sports car.
Right or wrong, using 93 gives me peace of mind.

If you can't afford an extra $2.50 - $3.00 per fill up for your baby, you have bigger problems than choosing what type of gas to put in your car.

If I can't get to a BP, I use another brand name fuel.
Like others have said, there are only a few manufacturers of gasoline, the difference is the additives.
Your local convenient store get its fuel from the same place as "brand name" places. It just uses cheaper additives.

My $0.02 anyway.

I get around 15-17mpg on 70/30 (highway/city) driving. is this bad? 2 weeks ago I had my coolent topped off at the delaership and today it was empty.... is this bad? I'll probably have to take my car to the dealership again....
