Between the Elise, Miata and S2000 the S2000 will be the largest car If I could only pick one it'd be the S2000 still, the Elise is not livable as an only car even though it's not a full exotic and not my "dream" car by any stretch of the imagination (Zonda F, CGT etc)

You have the means to own such as car as well as have a great daily driver. Is a perfect combination. Ur living the dream of many on here. I live in Dallas as well, and i have seen 1, maybe 2 of those zooming around. I am green w/ envy.

Well you live in a area where it's nice and warm all year round

Winter = temps that range from -30 to -50 C with lots of snow, plus being a student means I can still haul my books and some hot girls without having to use the trunk Winter = frozen trunk = ftl.

Man if I lived where you live I'd sell all the cars and just get a snowplow and a pack of huskies, or just an STi with snow rally spiked tires.

I was considering an STI. But I hate the way they handle, they ride harsh (roads here suck, very badly) and they are just plain ugly inside and out (IMO). That and the local (only) subaru dealership could use some work, they have a local monopoly here so that = FTL.

I would of chosen an Evo if they were available in Canada Although they too are ugly...at least they have the track performance to make up for it

I know of at least 4-5 in Dallas, 2 of them are my friends (one is supercharged). There's a Chrome orange one running around Irving but I do rarely see them on the street as they are mostly weekend cars anyways so people don't drive them all the time.

wow man i lived in dallas before i moved to houston. the lotus looks great. How much did you buy it for, if you don't mind me asking? congrats on the sweet upgrade.

Let me put it this way, I put the whole RX-8 into it and will be paying off the rest for quite some time so I hope I like it. I guess I sort of accomplished my goal of owning an exotic (semi) before turning 25.

I got it yesterday, drove it around for about 30 minutes and while I've raced a few before this is the first time to drive one on the street. My impressions are that it's not as crazy stiff as I thought although if you go over a bad piece of pavement or a bump there is almost no cushioning at all, think riding a horse. It's a real pain to get in and out with the top on, almost like falling in and out of a bathtub. The manual steering is very heavy compared to what I'm used to but also very precise which is what they were going for, I just need to adjust to it. After driving it and getting in the Miata I can honestly say it made the Miata seem very big and soft which is just crazy.

The stage 2 exhaust sounds incredible, very deep and burbles and backfires when dropping from high rpms. Under bridges it sounds like a 1000CC sport bike at 10,000 rpms. Going to detail it and get it inspected today and regsiter it tomorrow hopefully. Will post pics then.

I really want to drive one of these one time. If I were to get two cars a DD and a 2-seater the Elise, Z4 and Boxster would be on the list.

Wonder if you wanted to use it more for on road if you could just changes the springs or something.

I love the Elise! I've owned three Miatas and have thought about getting one. Alas, it would be miserable for my 6-hour drive on the interstate, from NYC to NH.

I saw TWO Lotus Elise's this week. One of which was yellow. It had no windshield! Just two very small low profile wind deflectors. One for the driver & another for the passenger.

Maybe it was a Lotus Two-Eleven. Most Elises have windshields except for 1 that a shop is turning into a track car.

Actually they look much better in real life. They are actually a hybrid between a street tire and a R compound race tire. Most people get 4000-5000 miles out of a set and the rears are $250 each I'll probably run them for a little longer and get some Bridgestone RE-01R's

Hey CosmosMpower, I think you were right about the Lotus I saw sans the windshield being a Two Eleven. It was in Temecula, CA. I only saw the front half of the car stopped at a traffic light. I couldn't tell if it had the rollbar as in the pic you submitted. I doubt anyone would want to remove the A-pillar/windshield on a car. That would just be to hardcore plus I'd bet there would be a loss of structural integrity. Do you know if the Two-Eleven requires special structural reinforcement bracing?

Oh yes, theres a pretty big elise group in temecula, i remember seeing them at this lotus elise shop there, on a saturday morning , my jaw droped about 3 feet and i spent the rest of the day trying to put it back in place.

Actually a shop somewhere (very well may be Temecula) started from an Elise and chopped the A pillars off to make a 2-11 type track car. This is similar to what guys do with the Miata to make a D prepared car, of course one is 15 grand to build and one is 90 grand to buy.




The a pillars actually don't have any structural integrity to the Elise, it's glued on and is just there to hold the windshield and give the top somewhere to latch to on the front. Also 2-11's aren't street legal but a few dealers have been selling them in the US for track cars so I don't know. The 2-11 has an obvious paint scheme that says 2-11 on the side.
