RX-8 Headlights

I was curios to know if the stock headlights are an H.I.D. system. I want to buy some new bulbs but i am a little confused on the matter I know that Xenon is the gas used in H.I.D. Bulbs but i am still kind of lost, any help would be great

Turn them on without the ignition - the HID's emit a high pitched whine, and come on slowly, getting brighter over 2-3 seconds.

Pull out the bulb. An HID bulb will have a glass chamber in the center with no wires going across. The halogen bulb will have a wire that is clearly visable in the center.

Just don't touch the bulb with your fingers when you pull it out. oil from your fingers could cause the bulb to burn out faster

I obviously didn't read your last text...

I had a mazda3 that came with halogens. I bought a HID retro kit and installed 6,000K phillips HIDs. I really liked the color. It was bluish without looking ricey like the 8-10K range. The stock on the rx8 are 4300K bulbs. I liked the 6,000K way better. I might have to switch mine out.

He was saying

GT, T = HID

S = Halogens.

Makes sense to me.

It depends on the model year. In the 2004, 2005, and maybe 2006 model years only the base car came with halogens. Everything else had HIDs. The sport package in those years consisted of DSC, traction control, HIDs, and fog lights.
