RX-8 Insurence

If you are a driver under 25 (better yet under 21) living in the US (even better NJ) what does your insurence cost for your RX-8? Do you think it would cost more then a Ford Explorer V-8?

In Quebec, the premium for the standard coverage 500/250 and 1 million liabilty for me is 2200 cdn. The reason why it's so low is because there are no statistics out for this car yet so the insurance company's have no data to base they're cost.

i do know that for me, the rx8 insurance is less than HALF what the 350Z was going to be. and that makes up for more than the mileage difference!

I get my insurance through a very small insurance company. They didn't have the rx-8 listed when I called... I told them it was a 4-door with a 1.3 litre engine

They looked it up and called me back, my agent thought it was pretty funny. Anyway, with deductables set at 1000 on both cars, I have a 93 intrepid and my 8 insured for just over 100 bucks a month. Full coverage on the 8, collision only on the intrepid. And I'm a 22 year old male. I think I got pretty lucky.

I have full coverage through AAA, I'm 20 and it's $2400 a year...Pretty steep...When I talked with the agent, he told me that AAA is not finished classifying the vehicle. The four doors are throwing them off. He said it may be reclassified and the insurance cost may go down.

I had a 2002 VW Passat that I traded in for the 8. The net difference in insurance for a 6 month premium was about $20.

I LOVE these 4 door family sedans

Eat yer heart out 350z'ers!!!

27 Years old, in Halifax, NS (2nd most expensive city in Canada for insurance, they say.)
It's costing me about $60 less per year then the Civic SiR I traded in on it.

I'm paying just over $1550 per year.

I live in West Virginia, a very expensive place for car insurance. My policy covers my auto and renters insurance. I previously had a '99 Trans Am. My premium went down $200 a year.

$362/6mths=$724/yr through State Farm. $100K/$300K/$100K. About 30 minutes outside of Seattle (boonies of Redmond). 34 yrs old.

Lots of discounts for using them for homeowners, a second car, not living far from work, having an umbrella policy, etc.

As is clear from the above posts, rates vary widely by age and driving record. Note also that auto insurance is regulated at the state level so that people with identical profiles can have vastly different insurance depending on where they live.

I was very excited to be one of the first to drive off the mazda lot with an RX8 but insurance was my verdict for not buying one. GET THIS.......USD $3800 for 6 months!!!!!! Thats USD $7600 a YEAR!!!!!!! I couldnt afford to pay for that, so I had to give up the RX 8....oh well. These are my basic details

Was insured 4 years prior to now
One ticket for not having my license when I was pulled over

$1085/6 months with Geico. It would have been $1035 if not for the ticket... the deductables are set at $500 I believe.

Policy reads male over 25 years

cars priced on this policy every 6 mths:

RX 8 $345

G35C $358
S2000 $375
350Z tour $425
BMW 330i $445

Insurance is pretty fair...

I am 38 yrs old. I pay 440 dollars amonth full coverage. 500 dollar deductable. I had a 1997 Accord and I paid 387 dollars only because it was a TOP 10 most stolen car...

P.S. The 4 doors help insurance wise for the RX-8. I have the MT 6 speed.
