RX-8 made a cameo in a new futuristic film
Since everyone told me Fantastic Four stunk, I decided not to see it and instead went to the sneak preview of The Island.
Not sure if you guys have heard about this movie in any of the upcoming attraction previews yet (it won't be in theaters for another 2 weeks), but it's set in the not too distant future...from the same director of Armageddon, Bad Boys, and The Rock. It's based on the same concept as Ayn Rand's book Anthem where everyone is living in some type of emotionless utopia society...only here they're shielded from contamination of some type of virus/radiation...and of course you have one guy who starts questioning all the **** going on around him and...I'll spare you the details.
Anyway the movie ended up being a damn good film, and to top it off, a Sunlight Silver* RX-8 with front air dam and rotary accent had a couple seconds of exclusive footage as it was shown driving straight towards the camera for no apparent reason. That was quite a surprise for me.
This is the first movie I've seen since X-Men 2 that had an RX-8 in it.
So now you guys have a reason to see The Island, even though I'm sure most of you would have checked it out anyway.
*EDIT: Looks like it may have actually been a Titanium Gray RX-8. I don't really remember because of the amount of light that was reflected off the car.

Uh..... I'm not sure why this was moved to RX-8 Media News forum. The thread was really about the movie The Island that you'll all probably be discussing in 2 weeks in the Lounge along with all the other movies you guys talk about. I'd get into it but I doubt any of you have seen the movie yet so I don't want to spoil anything. Just wanted to point out that the RX-8 was in the new action thriller as an opening to discussion about the movie..

Media? It's not a vid/article about the 8 but a movie sighting.
Lounge? Maybe, but who really talks about the RX-8 there anyways. :D
RX-8 Discussion? Uh huh...
Congrats on an orphan post, Jerky.
So where should we stick this thread? Aussie, Far East, Europe, Canada, or the good ol' Gulf region? :D

(now that I think about it...I just made an extremely lame joke but am too lazy to think of anything else :D)

"War of the Worlds" was decent at best - the effects were really cool, and I love those death-rays! The plot (yes, I know, based on the book) sucked in my opinion... but the movie was OK overall. I want to go see F4 and Dark Water :-)
We should have a movie review forum, rofl.

I saw the Island last night, and it was suprisingly good! Good stand on some contraversial issues. Go see it!
I did saw the 8! I thought it was Titanium though not SS. There were a lot of nice cars in the movie. All newer cars too. There some futuristic cars too. Saw a lot of the 350Z. Daimler-Chryler must've paid a boatload to include their lineup.

Yeah you're probably right it was Titanium. But the way the camera hit it with the light, it looked shiny enough to be silver, but then again when I used to have a Titanium, there were plenty of times when light shone on it the right way making it look like a Sunlight Silver.
Nice. Now I really can say I owned that car. :p

The critics seemed to have totally hated The Island. I'm not sure why...I thought it was a great movie.
Then again...they may have just pulled a fast one on me by having an RX-8 in the middle of the film.
Anyway it's out now. Screw the critics see it for yourself. It's not half as bad as they say it is.

just got back from the movie...our car looked HOT!
the start of the movie was poor...it got better but wasn't awesome...just decent...my brother loved it though, hmmm.
good action flick
Johansen looked spectacular
I tried to take a pic with my phone of our car in the theater...too difficult
