I discovered this in the owner's manual, though -

Shop manual - 9999-95-064B-04
Wiring diagram - 9999-95-040G-04

E-mailed Mazdaformance in Houston to see if there's any update on availablity. No, I don't have an '8 yet, but yes I'm planning on buying the shop manual when it's available and giving it a good read .

Mazda's shop manuals have improved over time - the '89 RX-7 shop manual is better than the '87, and the '93 manual is better still (yes, I own real copies of all 3 ). Hopefully the '8s shop manual will be the best yet.

Page 295 has an enhanced version of the Light Bulb Specifications that my physical book does not, including the SAE IDs.

Scanning the shop manual needs a scanner with a big hopper and a sheet feeder .

I e-mailed Brian at mazdaformance.com (Mazdaspeed of Houston) on shop manual availability -

The Rx8 manuals are not available. According to my sources...Mazda will not
offer printed manuals for quite a few months.

There ya have it. By then, someone will probably skeeze a electronic copy that the dealer's using .

BTW, Brian is a GREAT source for parts and accessories.

The service guy at my dealer told me the same thing regarding the shop manual. It will be several months before Mazda make it available. So I ask him what would he currently use if he had to service the RX-8. He said he would have to call Mazda technical hotline.

That's odd. My dealer had the RX-8 Shop Manual when I was at the dealership last week - so I know its available, I got to hold it. He was the head mechanic. He was looking up something concerning the DSC in the manual. I'd love to have a copy of that.

In fact, they didn't have the specs to align my wheels as the alignment is slightly off. The opened the shop manual and photocopied a page out for one of the service engineers who was going to actually perform the alignment.

Wink Shop manual improvements.

Mazda's shop manuals have improved over time - the '89 RX-7 shop manual is better than the '87

Tell me about it. My '82 RX-7 shop manual is worse than a Chiltons or Haynes shop manual. Instead of technical drawings they actually used bad photos that look like they went thru 4 generations of copy machine duplication.

Thumbs up Good Find

Really neat. I downloaded the whole thing and read it, "cover to cover" Interestingly, I didn't see anything unique about it, except for maybe the TPMS, but I never had that before either. It was nice to learn some of the NAV info, too, since I'm getting it. This is one of the most beneficial things I've found on this Forum, particularly for those of us still waiting for our cars. Thanks!:D

I was going to purchase an RX-8 in July, but after hearing about all of the horror stories from you guys, I think I'll shop around first before making a decision. Thanks for the "heads up" as I plan to spend my money on something that will last a while.

And what exactly does this post have to do with the subject of this thread? I'd suggest posting replies in threads where the reply is actually relevant to the topic being discussed.

If you're hearing horror stories then I think you're imagination is a little to vivid... sounds like a troll attempt to me.

Maybe do some research first before coming in here saying that all of us have posted "horror stories."

If you have a concern, ask about it and you will get an answer straight away. Also, use the search feature.

The shop manuals are available through Mazda dealers, although some evidently don't know they can get them or don't want customers to have them. I have the electrical manual ($75); the full shop manual is available at my dealer for $150. They've let me refer to their copy, so I know it exists.

You can get them from Rosenthal Mazda or Trussville Mazda for $54 (wiring) and $90 (shop). My only complaint is I wish they were still in loose-leaf format instead of bound.
