Angry RX-8 Is Not A High-Performance Car?

... according to the people at the local Nissan dealer. I went to look at the 2005 Nissan 350Z because I was curious about the new yellow color. I pull up in my titanium gray 8 and 3 salespersons immediately look at it. One lady offers me help, so I gladly except. She asks me what my car is and tells me it looks like a Viper. :D Anyway, I asked how old you have to be to test drive. I told her I was 16 and she was going to take me out in it since I am not old enought to drive it myself, but this other RUDE salesman yells at her and says she can't do that.
He then goes on to tell me that it is illegal for anyone in the United States to drive(or testdrive) a high-performance vehicle without being over the age of 25. Then he tells me that I need my parent to come in, but I still can't drive it. The lady and I both looked at him and got mad. He then told me to call the DMV. I told him I had an RX-8 and then he told me it was not a high-performance vehicle. He asked me how many liters it was and I told him it was 1.3. He then went on to tell me that 1.3 wasn't that much.
I told him it was a rotary engine and he flat out ignored me and went on to say that the Z had 3 liters and 287HP or something like that. I was so mad at him, but the other lady said not to worry about him and I spoke to the manager about it before I left. Interesting huh?

He's a lousy salesman. Sounds like he just doesn't bother to study other car makes/models to compare to the ones at his work. You'd think he would since it would probably help him sound smarter and hence sell more cars. I agree with G8rboy, what a putz!

350Z has 3 liters and illegal for anyone under the age of 25 to test drive a "high performance vehicle"? WTF is that guy smoking? He doesn't even know about the cars he's selling.

I think car salesmen are afraid if they ever told the truth they would burst into flames. I can't believe the BS they dish out...

Jason,

You will learn soon enough that many, not all but many, car salespeople know virtually nothing about their own products and even less about their competition. You'll probably also discover that salespeople who run down the competition do so because they have little positive to say about their own product.

And here I thought the Nissan has a 3.5 liter VQ35 series engine (not 3 liters like he is telling you). You should tell the salesperson to learn about his car first before he pulls more BS out of his butt.

Jason, hello my name is Jason as well...let me tell you how to have a good time ******* with this guy's job

Ok...now go back in there and sit down with the saleman who was an 'asshat' and bring your parents if you can...say you want to buy a 350Z and your parents will pay cash since your Dad is in the Mob.

Start discussing the car...and look over atleast 20 cars at the dealership...slowly look them over analyzing every inch of the car even if the car is identical to the last one you saw.

Then when you are finished looking at them (even if it takes more then one day ) go inside and order none of them...instead start pretending you are going to order the MOST expensive, fully loaded one and make a list of mods you want the dealer to install.

Take your time debating weather you want another set of floor mats...go into detail and make it a grand debate with yourself which color floor matt you want to have added to the package

Now you should be late into the evening and the dealership should have already closed but this salesman is staying late to make the sale and so he is probably missing dinner with his girlfriend who is probably sleeping with someone else anyhow

Finally they you offer them a price...lowball it by 10grand atleast! Then tell him in a condescending way 'Like IIII'm going to pay that much for this pile of ****!!!!! this car I'm just using as a backup car anyway'

they will bitch and moan and you will slowly counter their offer with another offer wasting even more time.

When he gives you a final offer...tell him 'I don't want to buy the ugly car anyway I'm just ******* with you and you should go to hell"

then write a letter to Nissan NA...giving the salesman's name, and the dealership he works at...tell them your story you can call Nissan NA too...tell them you decided to buy an RX-8 since the dealership was so horrible to you.

Now sit back with the satisfaction his career is over :D :D :D

Hold on all you gentlemen..An RX-8 is NOT a high performance car..it's quick, if you want to drive a high performance car try a Subaru STi...now that's quick, or a BMW M3 CSL or Westfield Hyabusa ...now that's quick.
An RX-8 doesn't produce enogh torque to be a really hipo car, but its a great road car. By the way the Nissan 350Z is a much better car for the track than the RX-8. Now if the RX-8 had a turbo....?

An RX8 will beat a fairlady around a track all day. The Z is not a very impressive performance vehicle. Sure it's quick in a straight line, but that's about it.

Just how is the 350z a better track car, let alone a "much better" track car?? Why don't you do some homework and come back later.

you don't know ***expletive deleted***

per·for·mance ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pr-fôrmns)
n.
The act of performing or the state of being performed.
The act or style of performing a work or role before an audience.
The way in which someone or something functions: The pilot rated the airplane's performance in high winds.
A presentation, especially a theatrical one, before an audience.
Something performed; an accomplishment.

high-performance is term for how a vehicle handles many tasks and no-where is it limited to the pre-mature ejaculative state of drag racing quickness!
High-performance can refer to, High-Performance handling (the Z performs MUCH WORSE then the 8 in this category), High-Performance drifting (the Z is virtually useless in this category with its miserable suspension), High-Performing in marathon style races...the Rotary just keeps going and going and going

I could go on but I don't want to waste my time on this

:D LMAO... this is rediculous. First, I always say to anyone in a 350Z... If you own a 350Z then you've never driven an RX8. I made the mistake of driving one (by the way, I was only 20... not 25). Anyway, the two do not compare. I'm not talking about on a 1/4 mile dragstrip, I'm talking about general everyday driving. If you want to purchase a car strictly for drag racing, I don't think you would pick the RX8 OR the 350Z.

So bottom line, Don't worry about it Jaison, you didn't want his piece of **** anyway. :D

My Bike only makes 48lbs-ft, yet runs 10s in the 1/4 mile. When did 'torque' become the deciding factor? If your car isn't high performance, you aren't driving it right

I would like you to show me one test where a 350 Z "substantially" outperformed the RX8 on a track. I have seen tests where they were identical (Top Gear), or within 1 sec. on a 2 min.+ track, but the 350 Z has never been a "much better" track car than an 8. It might have more power and torque, but the RX8 has better weight, brakes & handling charateristics than a 350 Z. That's like looking at a Porsche Carrera S & Corvette, and declaring the Corvette the winner, just because it has more hp & torque. You do realize one of the "purest" high performance sports cars the Elise has all of 138 lb.-ft. of torque.
