I just want to chime in and say that the complaints of the car being "not that fast" are widely exaggerated, and I've found them to be mostly untrue. This car is pretty fast, and corners like nothing else. In terms of straight line performance, there are faster cars, but there are always faster cars. In a rotary you just have the pick the right gear and you'll find it to be plenty fast.

That's easy to say, but i'm telling you - if YOUR RX8's engine died, you'd feel pretty crappy...especially if it died out of warranty.

^^Average ground-up rebuild is around $1200. A brand-new engine from the factory in a crate is $6200 if for some reason the old one couldn't be rebuilt. Not bad at all, really, IMO. There are MUCH more expensive engines around.

Find me one reputable person in the country that will rebuild a Renesis for anywhere near $1200.

Your response is really weak.

I could easily say the same thing to you. Why not get a 3rd gen Rx7? Why wuss out and get an Rx8 instead? Since the Rx7 is too much trouble and upkeep for you, then you should get Camry as well.

Ever heard of an Evo or a WRX Sti ??

Both of these cars will destroy an Rx8 in every possible way, and they have four REAL doors.

This is NOT a sports car. The RX7 was a sports car.

The 350Z is more of a single minded sports car. Despite being sedans the Evo and the WRX Sti will outrun and outcorner you.

Yes this car is worth it. However, it's not nearly as awesome as some of you are making it out to be.

Before wasting money on a supercharger for this car, why not start out with a 3rd gen RX7 instead? It has way more potential. It is a true sports car.

Hm. You are stupid. It made it on Top Gear, which is a show for exotic and... well, Just plain old Good, Fast cars. So go watch that episode, because i think he gives a very true [except for the design, i loove the design] description of the car.
And if you still dont know.

Then look at the rx8 from the front. it smiles.

Agreed that the RX8 is not a true sports car like the RX7. But it is closer to that than the heavier 350z.

And to the EVO and STI, good cars, but no thanks. Just not my style.

EVERYBODY will want to race you ALL the time if you drive one of those. It's bad enough that at least once a week of so, some kid in a Honda will follow me throught traffic, red lights, etc. just to instigate a street race.

Yes I saw that episode. However, only one guy said he liked the car. The other two were completely silent on the matter.

Not to mention that they didn't bother having the Stig drive it through the test track because they knew it wouldn't have posted a competitive time.

Yes the car is worth it. At the same time, there are other cars that will outperform it for about the same price.

Did you know that if you took the price of your car, and the cost of all the mods you made to it, you could be driving a Lotus Elise by now?

Now that is a real sports car in every sense of the word. It is super light, and gives little attention to comfort. It puts performance before all else. That is the definition of a true sports car.

Talking

WRX and Evo... yeah, they are faster..

Caveat 1: But they don't turn heads like my 8' does..

You be the judge.. I got more chicks turning their heads at my car than I've ever seen and hey, thats a good feeling..

Besides, how fast do you really need on streets and the highway? Most people with an 8' never get to the track or have time to so there really isn't any need to be a dragster off the line... I laugh at people who think they are badass's in their 400 hp Stang's, race-ready WRX's and wannabe-WRX Evo's ... While they are 100 mph past everybody, I'm 11 mph pimpin....

Yes, if you are any type of fan of a well balanced car. The car isn't extremely fast but it's not slow. I've driven the hell out of the 350Z and S2000 and I'd pay double for an RX8, the good thing is you don't have to! If you want something for speed, get an EVO 8 or something. The RX8 is just so well balanced, the chasis is so well designed, and the engine makes my understand why this car is loved by it's owners. It's like no other experience I had in a car. To me that is more rewarding then going fast in a straight line. The RX8 has the all around package and quality, no other car in that price range can come close in my opinion. I'd only get rid of my 8 to get a Porsche or (Dreaming here) a Ferrari. Well I like lotus Esprit too. Bottom line is if you have sense and the passion of driving/feeling/and experiencing the road and also like a nice/slick/good looking package then the RX8 is for you too! It was the best buy I've ever made! (I had 2 RX7s as well.)

All I have to say is that I checked my credit card statement the other day and I had a charge of $106 to fill up my car here in Germany the other day. All I said was oh well since I love everything about my car and I don't see myself driving anything else to save a few dollars.

PF100, if you hate this car so much, why are you on this forum?

and besides, evo's are.....just retarded......STIs are.......retarded also

I happened to have driven them both, evo8 and a wrx STI and I must say, they are nothing like the rx-8, if you hate your life and want to go bone a concrete wall, go ahead! I'm definitly not stopping you, as a matter of fact, I would love to see it

Who said I hated the RX8 anyway? I actually like it. I dislike the fact that many people here talk about as if it was the only car in the world worth owning, and attack anyone who differs in opinion. I also dislike the fact that so many on here delude themselves into thinking it is a "true" sportscar and other cars aren't.

Oh, by the way, according to your signature you drive an automatic???????? That is really sad no matter what you are driving.

I'd love to. Just show me where I can buy a brand new RX-7 with my exact option and color choices for the same price as an RX-8. Oh yeah, with a factory warrantee too.
