RX-8 redesign?

Anyone know when it will happen? The current car is good, but it can improve a lot.

I don't know if I can agree on it being able to improve a lot the car is pretty darn good, but it would be interesting to see where they go to with the design.
So goldwave, where would you like to see the RX-8 design headed?

Personally, a MINOR redesign of the rear end (Maybe a more accessible trunk), and re thinking the front cup holders (like the way they look, HATE that my elbow hits any drinks I might have there while shifting If i'm alone, I'll ussualy put my drink in the rear cupholder, just to have the center console closed)

That is so true! I'd like to see a stronger sliding console cover. A functional oil pressure gauge. And… and… well, that's about it. Oh wait—and a place to hang the gas cap while refueling!

Personally I feel the whole interior should be changed. Give it a bit more of a expensive look. The interior of the 350Z is so much better. You actually feel that you are driving a expensive machine. Oh, and the rx-8 should be made a bit longer...its not a very big car at the moment. Not too much, but just a bit. Maybe even add a driver controlled suspension? Similar to that found in the corvette. I could go on and on and on. In reality, when I have enough ca$h, ill just buy what I fancy the most at that time

You've got to be kidding.
In my opinion, exactly the opposite is the case. The interior of the Z looks cheapish compared to the 8 - and this is true for even the G35C.
If that's what you think, then you should go with what you like better - the Z.

There is no way in hell that the 350zs interior looks better than the 8.

It's all just plastic anyhow... If you think the Z interior is better then it is, at least for you.

I think they need to make the rear wider looking, more aggressive. The front of the car looks wide and aggressive but the back tappers in giving it a narrow and tall look from the rear. Exhaust tips need to be resized to 3.5" like the Mazda speed, looks so much better. A little bigger trunk access, side to side is fine but top to bottom is to narrow. Make the rotary accents standard equipment, they a subtle but really compliment the car.

I think the interior is great but would like to see a compass added to the mirror and raise the mirror up about .5 to 1 inch. Leather on the seats could look better. I would also like a little recess on the center column to hold small items. Seat heaters need to change to a roller type as opposed to a rocker switch, this would eliminate turning them on by accident. Finally the Moon roof opening needs to be 50% large, it is a jock currently.

If this goes beyond a face lift they need to increase power and fuel mileage. More so then reworking the looks. I know easier said then done.

More Horsepower, better fuel mileage, and a better oil gauge. I think they need more than an oil pressure gauge, but an oil level gauge. At least maybe a light that goes from green to red. Green = oil level ok Yellow = oil level lower, but ok. Should check. Red = Danger, add oil now.

I say make Shinka seats available on all 8's as an option. Move the seat heater switches so they don't get turned on when shifting and make it available with a supercharger or turbo.

I assume you know the center mirror is adjustable and can move up/down too. The way my car came, it was at the lowest position, which blocked my view considerablly. Took me a week or so to find out I could move it out of the way

Why on earth would they only include a supercharger with relocated heater switches?

is this a joke? I've also always wanted to move my mirror up a little, but didnt think it was possible to slide it up. How do you do this?

It's actually double-jointed......just like every rearview mirror for the last 3 decades. There is a joint at the glass attachment and at the mirror head attachment.

I can't believe how many people don't know this.

Does anyone clean the inside of their windshield around here?

Yep, ive driven a ton of them. They feel rushed and as if they weren't important to sell the car. The biggest thing that gets me is that green numbering that reminds me or old cell phone screens or the original game boy....the interior is just not up to par with the rest of the car
