Talking RX-8 show car delivered end of May

The dealer here outside of Phila Pa said he just found out they will have a show RX-8 in their show room at the end of May. The pre orders will then follow in June.

Well, by definition, socialists are pretty ignorant. I suppose an intelligent one would be extraordinary feat. My sig refers to someone who frequents this forum.

Cheers,

How original!!! A new delivery speculation thread citing no (authoritative, relevant) sources other than the bile the dealer tries to feed you. Woohoo!

The source is very relevant, how about my neighbor who owns the dealership. What do you have to say about that?

If this is not true I will be very pissed!

How do you like your Jetta? Do you have the problems other Jetta owners have?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I strongly suspect that it is a pre-production car that will show up at your neighbours dealership. They have just recently started to build the US units so the odds that you get to see one on this side of the Pacific in the next 2 weeks is next to nil.

Our local dealers had one of them for a couple of days but the a$$holes wouldn't even open the doors let alone let us sit in it. I've decided not to buy locally because of their total ineptitude and cavalier attitude toward those who want to drop $40k (CDN) on their product

How much different are these pre-production cars, anyone have the scoop on that? Sure things arent finalized and maybe it's thrown together so they can toss it on a showroom floor for advertisement, but they cant be that much different.

Hey AC, I have my preorder at Brandywine Mazda as well. I was a little less than pleased when I initially went in, back in February, because they tried to stonewall me on the $500 refundable deposit and didn't seem to know anything about the preorder program. The salesman I was dealing with was not very customer oriented, but his boss, DJ, seemed to be much better.

How have they been for you? I haven't called them yet to add a couple of port options I want. Have you talked to them about dealer add-ons, as far as not getting unnecessary things done?

I love my Jetta, the only issues I had is bad wiring to the taillamps. They went out twice, but that was 2 years ago and I've not had a problem since. I did some modding to it, but parted it out recently to make room in the pocketbook for the RX-8. I am realizing that I won't be able to get a car like this when children are around, so I'm hooking up with it now and going back to a sedan later on...

Jerry,

I originally ordered with DJ (sales manager) and then he handed it over to one of his salesman. My 500 deposit is fully refundable as yours should be. DJ said they are getting in one car that they cannot sell until October and the car will be on the showroom floor for display only (cannot dive the car).

What color and model did you order?

I almost bought a Jetta 1.8T but check out this VW site
and this is the reason I did not buy the Jetta. Only wanted to spend around 20K for a car, liked the Jetta but after visiting the site - I put out the extra 8K for the RX-8.

AC,

I'm getting a titanium 6MT w/ touring package, cloth seats.

At first the salesman refused to make the deposit refundable, asking what's to prevent me from refusing the car once it gets there, as if. So I said that wasn't my intention, etc, and started to walk out the door. Then the salesman called DJ over who agreed to make it refundable. The salesman asked "how can we do that?", and DJ told him, "if he ends up not wanting it, we can turn around and sell it to someone else for (some number of thousands of dollars) over MSRP."

So this dealership doesn't inspire a whole lot of confidence. I haven't heard a peep out of them since I first preordered, which is why I was wondering if you've had any better experience. Have you ordered any port-installed options or talked at all with them about dealer markup items?

Jerry,

I just spoke to DJ today and he was very accommodating. He said he should be getting the brochures in any day and would mail me one. He did not mention anything about the port-installed options, thanks for reminding me on that - I would like to get the mud flaps. He also said I should be receiving the gifts from Mazda (T-shirt, cap, model RX-8, key chain and so other stuff)?
I would give DJ a call!

Is this going to be your every day car + do you have a garage for it?

AC,

Ah, thanks for the good news! I want to get the cassette player and cargo net. I'll have to give him a call asap.

Yes, it'll be my every day car, and I do have a garage. Do you actually live in the city, or in/near West Chester?

Jerry,

I live in Springfield. We are not far from each other. We should get together if we ever get our RX-8's.
