i hope the ignorant owners mess up the engines and void their warranties.

i hope the 8 gets as sought after as the 7 is.

Get used to it. This is a common car that people buy for looks and to go places. We make up a very tiny percentage of owners on this website, and like most cars, people buy them for looks and to get around in, they don't take pride in ownership. Mazda wanted this to be a car that appealed to your every day person, and well, they are having some success. Enthusiasts are the achilles heal of car company profits, the general consumer is the gold mine. There's nothing wrong with treating a car like a hunk of metal, because after all, that's exactly what it is. If you bought this car to be rare then you got the wrong wrong car, if you expect owners to wave to you, well wake up to reality. There's lots of every car on the road, so the waving thing needs to be understood because it's too common of a car for that. I mean big deal, so you pass another rx8. Get used to it. Mazda is on a rampage with production, much mile mitsubishi did with Eclipse.

Not too many here in Jersey. I see maybe 2 a week, and I drive about 2 hours a day to & from work. I don't mind. I still get heads turning in my direction.

Greetings from the Big "D"....

This city is huge and I have only seen a small few. The cool thing is most of the owners in this area are active members of this club!!!

Abbid - Like you, I have seen a few in pretty bad condition!! This drives me NUTZZZZ!!!!!!!!!

More and more every day. I was behind a winning blue today in my 7. I waved and tried to get some response, to no avail. I am really glad they are starting to get out there, the only problem is that the more people (regular car owners--not enthusiasts) buy these cars, the smaller percentage of those owners will really appreciate the rotary and the truly unique type of car they own.

I see more and more in the bay area. Always a smile and a wave. Kinda like we both know our cars are the best on the road.

I'm driving to work yesterday morning. I pull up beside an 8. Some old guy (no offense) driving the 8, should be in a vette...the worst part SMOKING!!!! Ouch.

Window down, talk radio blaring, smoking, car dirty.....oh for the love of God!!

We need to set up the 8 police. People seen in dirty 8s, smoking and generally not appreciating their cars should be pulled over and have their 1.3 renesis replaced with a 1.3 Daihatsu engine. The engines collected will be donated to those people who blow theirs up trying to make a FI kit for the rest of us.

Why is smoking lumped in with not taking care of/appreciating their car?

I did not see a single RX8 in Germany or Czech Republic... and we were everywhere over a 2.5 week period. Come to think of it, I did not see a single 350z either, lots of WRX's and Audi TT's however...

Then I get back home, drive home from the airport I spot 2.

That may be the saddest posting I've ever seen on this board.

He had to have been a Sales Manager at some dealership.

I am a smoker, but not in my 8. My last car had a few burns, stank like an ash tray, but I really didn't care too much about it. I smoked in an apartment I rented once, but I don't smoke in my house. I guess its all in how you look at it.

I'm in So Cal and I see a couple every day! At least a couple!

They definitely seem to be selling very well around here!

I see one every couple weeks if I'm lucky. I always imagined the car to be smaller in person, a little bigger than the miata but when I pull up next to it, its very robust...can't wait for my test drive.

Funny, the other day a guy I know at work calls me outside to see his "new baby". Sure enough, it's a fully loaded red 8. What's funny is he did not know I bought an 8 also. Small world.

We are not alone. I was one of 3 RX-8s stopped at a PA intersection earlier this week. It's great to see that they are selling so well.

ive been seeing more, but definately a lot. probably two or three a week. however, ive noticed its mainly women driving them. not that its a bad thing, but they never wave back and it seems like a mid-life crisis car for them

I don't see more than 1 per week and I commute 500 miles per week - almost never women drivers(thankfully).

-Sue (not sexist, just don't want this car to get a froo-froo rep)

Ditto east of Toronto..I met a few of my Greater Toronto colleagues at a meet in July ...and I know more are here based on the Canada Forum. ..but they must all be in stealth mode or maybe I ought to get out more!
