does that mean they'll bring the rx-8 to south padre?!?! hahahaha.
just in case you don't make it to the SE forum, here're what i oberved:
that lady in the driver seat has got her knees in the steering column though.... there may not be so much room in the back especially if that lady is shorter than average. ... however fortunately she doesn't look like a small girl though. (sorry, lady.)

up close and personal
i just stopped by the auto show in denver to see the thing tonight. another red one, and my sense is that any color would look better than red. it does look like a plastic toy in red.
however, if you get past the color, i found it comfortable and the back seats had plenty of room for someone to sit. this is not some road touring car that you stuff four people in and drive to san francisco from la, it's a car that happens to seat four people.
if you're in my position with a navigator and two dots, it's the closest thing i can use to a true two seater. and after having just sold my third alfa, i'm tired of two seaters and can use that extra room, even if it's just to toss extra bags, etc. after all, what percent of the time are you going to be spending with 3 or 4 people in the car anyway? if you want a four door car, go get one. this is a nice car to fit one or two comfortably, with the added bonus of being able to hold 4 when you need to do so.
on the disappointing side, from a first hand view, i would say that i was disappointed that the rear seats didn't fold down to give you more room in that squat trunk. there's some little rectangular box that opens to the trunk. i suppose if you had a pair of snow shows, the tails might fit through the opening, but not much more.
the mazda rep at the show claimed that it could hold two full sets of clubs. i was about to ask him if he meant two full length golf clubs, because the only full sets, plural, that will fit in that trunk are kids clubs.
the appearance of the car, external lines (not color) and interior finish, was every bit as good as the pictures. this one had been on the auto show circuit a few times as there were some deep gouges in the bumper. it also lacked those little air flaps behind the front tires that someone was wondering about a month or so ago.
anyway, can't wait to own one. i only wish they would put the 5 speed auto on the 265 hp version. i guess we'll have to wait for the twin turbo mazdaspeed version, at least according to the rep at the show.
