I don't see how I can be called an STi fanboi when I have basically lumped the STi and Evo together and have not said that I preferred one over the other. I think the Evo, STi, and RX-8 are all GREAT cars (try getting that statement out of roaddemon or cas). I just find a lot of humor in roaddemon posting in EVERY (go ahead and search) Evo/STi thread about how much better the RX-8 is. Shows me he is very insecure about his RX-8 and feels inferior because he can't respect a competitor's car.

I were buying now, I would most likely take a 2006 EVO IX MR over a 2006 STi. Some of the reasons why, in 2003, I picked the STi over the EVO: price difference (STi = $500 over invoice, Evo was marked up $5000 over MSRP); STi has better quality and better reliability; I had a 3000GT before the STi and I wasn't too thrilled with Mitsu, plus the local dealer is horrible; low end torque is much better for every day driving; a bit softer suspension, making the STi a better daily driver; super cheap looking interior in the Mitsu; basically, I didn't think that the extra cost of the Mitsu was worth it over the STi, same reason why many of you pick the RX-8 over the STi.

cas2themoe 02-14-2006 11:22 AM

You guys need to lay off. I have said nothing more than the EVO/STi are great performance cars. Yes, better than the RX8 in performance. But thats it. If I were looking at the total package, I would go for the RX8! As to why I own one.

eric sti---Look, everyone has their reasons and some are more radical then others. I just get the feeling that you go out of your way to put members down because they love their 8's. Everyone on here is entitled to that and some ppl actually don't need a 13 second rally/road race car as their daily driver. Remember, you are posting on the rx8club and it shouldn't suprise you that rx8 fanbois exist here. I also feel that ppl calling the 8 feminine is because of the lack in power moreso then looks. If the 8 had 300 hp, I beleive the 8 would look more masculine.

BlueEyes 02-14-2006 11:34 AM

It's all fine and dandy to love the 8. But to make comments about the STi/EVO beyond the subjective topic of looks, without ever driving one is pretty fucking stupid, IMO.

not debating that but again this is an RX8 forum. Do you really expect that everyone on here will have logical reasoning?

If I had an sti, I wouldn't care what the rx8club thinks about it. And if I did care I wouldn't expect that everyone will agree.

To me the sti vs rx8 is a silly comparo to begin with.

You can express your opinion in a less antagonistic way. Like I know your f' king stupid but I try not to come right out and say it. Where's your sensitivity man.

The only member I go out of my way to put down is roaddemon, and then only because he thinks the RX-8 is the greatest car ever built and he doesn't have respect for any other well-built performance car. This is THE definition of a fanboi - the vast majority of people in this thread and on this site do not fall into this category.

What is really a shame is that there is an STi thread that I am involved with going on on srtforums right now, and the (majority of) kids posting over there have a better attitude than those posting in this thread.

I have no problem with people who love their 8's - again, I really like to drive my wife's; it is a very fun car to drive - what I have a problem with are people like roaddemon who crap all over every other car on the road because they think that their car is king.

I never crapped on any other well built quality car. I said the Sti was a flawless rally car(a compliment). Subaru is an excellent car. But 16 pages of the smameold gets old.

What's wrong with being a fan(your term fanboi) of the car I love and own on that car's forum? I see no wrong here.

Did you say "kids" I imagine that is the majority on the STI forum. I'm no kid and that's who the EVO/Sti appeal to. It has more of a youth cult following. They have differnt demands. This forum is not like that. This forum has a much broader base and appeals to the real sportscar owner as well as other sporty brands. I appreciate your opinions so why put me down?

You have no clue what an STI is and have never driven one, so why comment? Also, the Subaru forums are hardly just a bunch of kids, but it's full of knowledgable enthusiasts that appreciate a lot of different cars, you wouldn't fit in so well.

sti_eric 02-14-2006 01:30 PM

There's a difference between being a fan of a car, and being a fanboi. I am a fan of the RX-8. You are a fanboi. You have shown a consistent history of invading every STi and Evo thread only to post that you think the RX-8 is a way better car. Not only that, but your main reasons are all subjective (i.e. you think the RX-8 "looks better"). You have never driven an STi or Evo, so how can you comment on them? Here are some choice comments of yours:

It is laughable that you think that the RX-8 gets stares and the STI and Evo get laughed at. Having never driven an STi or Evo, how would you know? From the experience of owning both an STi AND an RX-8, the STi gets more respect and admiration from fellow drivers.

I have no desire to go over there. I'm not a "rally car enthusiast" I have no interest in that one. How did you escape from there? I'll tell them to come get you. They can find you here at the rx8 forum.

Why do you keep saying rally car like it's derogatory? For someone that claims to have "no interest" you sure do take an interest in these threads. Were you molested by a rally car as a child, maybe a rally car bullied you in school and took your milk money?

He seems to get some kind of perverse pleasure out of saying that his 4-door, 4-seat sport coupe is a sports car while the STi and Evo are kiddie clown cars that are not sports cars and therefore nowhere near the same class as his RX-8.

Roaddemon 02-14-2006 01:45 PM

C'mon dude, Your opening old wounds by posting my rather tongue in cheek comments from the past. Your too thin skinned. Let it go bro. You know I'll post late on the next evo thread. You can try to get back then. Take a rest, I'll see ya on the rebound.

Ha, there were no evo's when I was a kid. Only fire breathing ass kicking muscle cars that could scorch pavement from 0-60. I only take an interest because I'm amazed at how you and Eric think your all that in your car. Like your car you make me laugh.

DARKMAZ8 02-14-2006 01:54 PM

in defense of demon, i dont think he ever expressed an interest in racing, nor has he claimed that the rx-8 is 'faster' than your evo or sti whichever you drive.
it seems you are pressing the speed/competition issue when all he has done is expressed his opinion. he thinks the rx-8 looks better, and it seems thats enough for it to win his vote...as the topic says, RX-8 or STi?

i dont think most people who have just so much as read about these cars would say the rx-8 is better in terms of performance, let alone spend some good time behind the wheels of them. most people here seem to value looks (subjective, i know but an obvious point of difference with the rx-8), comfort, and driving fun over pure performance.

fuck it dude lets go bowling :smoker:

dwill9578 02-14-2006 04:00 PM

Please STOP THE MADNESS!!!! I do have to say though after borrowing two buddies STI's one the typical blue the other white. I felt like I didn't get respect, people just wanted to get ACED. I'm not blowing that out of proportion either, people wanna mess with my 8 cause they know/think they could win. But every tard with a fart can attempted to get me to go, partically one HUGE tard with a hopped up SRT-4 always see him in my 8 and don't bother(give him satisfaction)....he got what was coming with a nice taste of "white lighting"(quick burst--no racey) AGAIN both GREAT cars, one A LOT quicker with an on/off switch for a gas pedal. Besides the fact that they are close in price....thats were the similarities end.

p.s. the STI is exceptional at humbleing idiots with POS's

DARKMAZ8 02-14-2006 04:15 PM

This is what will satisfy my need for speed this summer;)

If you want speed get a bike!

Actually, hp/wt ratio that Ninja is equal to a 600-700 hp car in the quarter mile. It's another whole level of speed. It's beutifull, and I can't wait to drive my bike when it warms up.

BlueEyes 02-14-2006 06:06 PM

quarter mile is gay. I bet the M3's would own it around a track.

HolyCross05 02-14-2006 06:22 PM

the STI and EVO are fugly, in my personal opinion...

lazi 02-14-2006 06:30 PM

ugly or wutever. its still fast as heck and has a lot of potential for track or drag or wutever use u may put it through. in my opinion i would choose the look wise with the evo over the sti. but both are great cars.

Yep, I think top gear proved that on one of it's episodes. 4 wheels does have it's advantages around a paved track.

btw the m3's would get owned by a race prep'd bike.

Fire breathing ass kicking muscle cars that are no faster than the STI and Evo in a straight line, however the Evo and STI can turn. 5 hours to go til the showdown at the point, be there or be square!

I value my life too much to own a bike, especially after losing a very close friend this past summer. She was being careful and wasn't at fault, I wouldn't be able to help myself and would push the envelope. Unless of course I got a slow ugly wannabe Harley like Roaddemon.

Hahaha, you just called a Honda motorcycle mighty! :rollingla :rollingla :rollingla

You do realize that every Harley guy in Milwaukee is laughing at you even worse than you laugh at the little clown car I drive right? Hell, at least I get respect from car enthusiasts, you only get respect from the other guys that can't afford a Harley such as yourself (if that). You want to race, I've got a grand, and we can head up to Road America or Blackhawk farms any time you chose. Oh wait, you want to drag race me with your big bad Honda, I'm free all week.

My suggestion is if u want people jaws dropping everytime u pull up get out and open the sucides or if u want complaments on the car from someone who is still in grammer school to the 60yr old lady u go with the eight. remember the cars weight to horsepower ratio( u got remember how small a rotary really is and for not to be a turbo it carries its body well), the unlimiting reving and the awsome handling that it brings from the factory and a good ride. Face it ur getting an exotic with a rotary engine the rx8 Is in a league of its own! PLUS IF IT AINT A ROTARY IT AINT SH-T!
