RX-8 takes a long time to crank when engine is warm
Hi,
I have read a few threads where if the engine is warm and will not start, then the engine is blown, or about to blow. I don't think my engine is bad. It has 158,000 miles, runs great! And cranks great in the cold, just not when it is hot. My car has been doing this for like 1 year. I am tired of it! I have replaced the starter numerous times with an autozone lifetime replacement starter, and they only seem to last a little while before it does it again. What is the problem? Anyone else had a solution, or a cause? Are their things I can check?
Thanks,

Each rotor has 3 faces, you should have been given a compression value for each rotor face.
AKA 6 values

Hopefully they took responsibility for everything.

my dealer just overfilled my 8 a week ago on the first oil change since I bought the car... 02 sensor blew later that day. had no oil in the intake, just an unfortunate coincidence. true though, never trust anyone doing an oil change om an 8!

damn!!!! Mine is due for an oil change soon, and I was going to take the car to the local dealer mostly to keep building a "relationship" with them. But if a Mazda dealer cannot even do an oil change right....I'll rather do it myself!

also buy a jug of oil and have it back after the oil change, your S1 shouldnt need more than 4qts.
I was lucky to befriend with the mechanic lol.

Update - Got my engine rebuilt by Luis Canizales in Alabama. Luis has been buiilding rotaries since early 70s.. and built his own lap table and each engine he builds gets cranked on an engine stand. After that my car runs like a dream. He is the best of the best!

What did the rebuild cost you? Any core components replaced?

Tell him Andy Noble sent you. Luis Canizales (256) 399-6199. He is in Gadsden, AL area. If you search on google.com you will find some of his work on rotarys with Phil Sohn on his FD and other cars.
