Question RX-8 Turbo side effects? and some.

Hey whats up guys.

When I bought my car, I never wanted anything done on it.

I had my RX-8 baby for about a year and a half now. And from the experiences i had, I am now interested in turbo kits. GReddy seems to be the only one with it. I'm just scared if i were to install one, it would damage my engine later on. Those of u guys with the Turbo kits installed, would you please give me heads up?

Only changes I have made so far are, Tail-lights tinted, mine is Just Sports Package A/T, so I bought DVD player and installed, some chrome grills on the back.

Now, I want to change lot of things. I want to buy the VOLK Progressive TE, 19', with Kumho Tires. And the KS Auto Burnout Body Kit, matching with the color, not the carbon. I don't like carbon fibers. My rx-8 is Pearl white, BTW.
Also, the Racing Beat exhausts, and finally the Turbo Kit. If only they were good for my car, in longer turns.

Please let me know about what u guys think, what would be your choices, on those parts and The Turbo Kit.

It'll void your warranty quicker than an ice pick through the radiator. Something to consider if you're under 50k miles.

Hymee wants an AT test car for his S/C. The aftermarket for the MT is anemic.... the AT is worse.

Other than killing your resale (mods always damage the resale of a car, unless you find a buyer willing to take the risks on your mods), and voiding your warranty, and severely limiting the life of your engine, I think a turbo kit is a terrific idea.

Thanks guys, That Hymee's Supercharge was really interesting. I think I'll lay off and wait a while. Maybe just stick to cold air intakes for temporary stats.

"correct me if I'm wrong but.... do we have a turbo kit for A/T owners yet!?"
I think we do. And I thought it is better to have the Turbo kits on AT than MT. with all the shift power loss.

So far i'm thinking i'll stick with u guys, wait for the supercharges to come to the States eh?
Please keep writing about it. I still wanna know more and might have a change of heart over it. Thanks for all the suggestions!

I have an '05 6spd M/T GReddy Turbo Kit, Boost controller, Espelir Cat Back.... I haven't had any problems yet, just crawling up on 35,000 Mi...... I actually did have a CEL and it turned out to be a tranny sensor. Still have my warranty! I love it, torque and power is phenomenal... But then again I'm pretty much new to the Renesis so what do I know...

What kind of flash do you have on your car? I have the R-flash and after reading how sh*ty a greedy kit is on my flash I get worried, so as of now I have been staying away from Greedy. Keep us updated on your car I would like to see how things pan out for you.

You don't know much about the engine, but you have 35k miles? Did you but it used? And how do you still have your warranty?

the cannot void your whole warranty, if the motor blows they ain't gonna cover it. If the radio quits working or something else unrealted the warranty should absolutely cover it.

Oh...well. Meh.

If I had a turbo they certainly wouldn't help with the engine pinging I'm getting, I guess.

Thanks dude. at least 1 person with the kit answering me.
The only thing i didn't like bout GReddy was that, they looked sorta cheap, though expensive... and prolly good.

Get an SSR

Due, you should get an SSR Turbo instead of Greddy. More power, better kit.

Over twice the price too. Just wait a few months, there should be many more options available.

What's coming out in a few months? Isn't that what's been said for a couple years now? That was a serious question, not sarcastic.

The same stuff that people were saying to wait a few months for for two years ago

Federal Law: Can't void your warranty unless they can prove the aftermarket part directly caused the problem

Good luck with that if you have a problem. Adding FI to a car that comes NA stock is a gimme to void the warrenty on any car out there. I can see the argument on some aftermarket parts but a Turbo or Supercharger...... no way.

Heck didn't one member have his warranty voided for posting on this forum that he got the car up over 100 MPH ?
