RX-8 TV ads make a reappearance
I haven't seen the RX-8 advertised on TV for a while, but the olde ad with the guy getting hugged by the "freestyle" doors and the hot wife looking on with the bemused look was played during this weekend's Formula 1 coverage from Germany.
They've mostly been advertising the CX-7 recently (hot chick in belly shirt driving off after the other fella in the ad says "whoever drives this is THE MAN!") on SpeedChannel... Buthey played the "hugger ad" at least once during qualifying and the race as well
Just thought I'd give a heads up, since all I ever seem to read about the RX-8 advertising is that there isn't any.

I saw that ad. My wife was sitting with me at the time and I said I wonder if this is the car hugg ad.
Good to see the ad again. My dealer doesn't have any RX8's in the showroom.

Love that ad. What better way to show how 8 owners feel about their car—and show off its best feature (the sports car that seats four—not just two—this is no RX-7!) at the same time! Much better than the usual lame-o Mazda advertising.

Whats interesting with all the Zoom-Zoom theme, few people seem to catch on.
I spent a few years contemplating what car I really wanted. I've owned some nice driving cars probably my favorite being a Porsche 928, but others included 911,s a 944 Turbo, BMW 530, even a Merkur xR4TI. Obviously I am a German car fan. In the final running was a Corvette C4 (low mileage) or a Nissan 350Z. As the 2006 RX8's were making their debut I saw some ads for fire sales on 2005's and took one for a test drive. I was hooked.
One thing the RX8 taught me is that it's not the motor that Mazda should be bragging about, it's the chassis. I was so impressed with the RX8 chassis I was compelled to try the CX-7. A month after buying the RX-8 I bought a CX-7 as my daily driver. Yesterday my wife bought a Mazda 5 Touring manual. We waited about 6 weeks for it to arrive. She could have afforded a lot more but liked the Mazda 5 the best. She looked at a lot of cars too.
Mazda needs to fire their advertising agent and hire someone who knows how to connect potential buyers with the product they offer. All of their cars offer a unique position to the same type of drivers who buy used BMW's. I'll never tell you that a Mazda has BMW quality, it just ain't there. But for the dollar, Mazda sells the most driver freindly cars built in the class that each of their products fit into.

I disagree with the BMW comment. I feel BMW quality all over the car! The ride is soooo smooth (stock suspension), it feels like my neighbors BMW 520i (I think thats the model..)..and the engine is just so smooth,

I've driven a 330, 545, M3 and 8 and find their ride to be similar. The feedback from the wheel on the BMW's was better and there was actually less bodyroll in the 545 than the 8 but the handling you get for the money in an 8 is probably the best around. Of course the M3 is an all around fantasic car but so far I've found you can get a loaded 06 Shinka for the same or less than most 2001 M3's.
I have a feeling there won't be a new round of ads for the 8 until the next significant model change. That's not all that unusual for a niche car, you market your bread and butter the most since that is what pays the bills.
