Unhappy RX-8 versus PT Cruiser

I was dropping my fiancee off for work yesterday morning, and some stupid guy ran a red light and BANG... my baby ended up like this. Fortunately there were 3 people at the scene willing to be my witnesses, so in terms of liability I think I should be fine.

However, my concern is: is it fixable... or does it look like a write-off to you guys?

I'm feeling very sad right now... sigh ~ ~ ~

Haha, I love how you call the RX8 your "baby" and their is no mention of if your fiancee was in the car or not when you had your wreck..... Seriously though I hope everyone involved is ok, that is the most important thing and since you didn't say I am assuming all is well in that department, but still..... your story reads a little like this:
"my baby" = RX8
"my fiancee" = my concern is if the RX8 is fixable sorry.....
lol, nice

yeah. it looks like you need a new front bumper, headlight, fender, hood, bumper support beam, and maybe a new core support. should be fixable.

Light frame adjusting at the worse, open the hood and get a few pics if you can.

If it's not fixable, look on the bright side, you are just in time for the 09's...maybe even an 08 that a dealer is trying to off-load.

But seriously, I think we're all happy to see you (and fiance) able to walk away from something that could have been much worse!

On a side note, I saw the title and was like "wtf...seriously not a comparison. PT Loser vs. anything = fail"

Cheers

in the states, and an 04, it could be writeoff, in canada i don't know.

door, fender, chair, hood, frame damage, bumpers(HID version), headlight sidemarker, (i am betting some under the hood damage too, new airbags, repaint + labor will be near the "totaled" cost for a car. 04 GT package is worth about 14.5k to insurance company.

now that i think about it.. maybe it's repairable.. maybe 6k+ in repair fee? if so u should ask the insurance company to get a genuine mazdaspeed front bumper (then if they don't, say you will offset the difference in price of the part)

There sure is something about PT Cruisers in this city, isn't there? I think the Chrysler dealerships practically give the ******* things away, which means all the idiots who are likely to be terrible drivers and know nothing about cars get them.

Nows the time for a eadiator upgrade from BHR on this forum and hoses plus the Mazmart water pump.

You will have to pay the differances between stock parts and the upgrades.

However it is well worth it.

Both of those upgrades will make the 8 last longer.

O yeah, I just noticed... I mentioned very minimal about my fiancee, probably because I know she's fine (yeah she's my baby too, lol), and yes she was in the car too. It happened so fast, all I could do was to put my right arm in front of her so her head and upper body wouldn't be pulled to the front. I actually saw that guy coming but there's no way I could stop in time... and it was raining really badly. We actually feel very lucky... because if I was a split second faster, that guy would have T-boned us.

Anyway, if it's fixable, I plan to tow it back to Signature Mazda.

RX-8 is more maneuvrable. It has better handling than the PT Cruiser. However the Cruiser Turbo might beat the 8 off the line. If you require storage, the PT is the way to go.
Don't worry about flooding because it's practically non-existent what with the update flash. And if you are a car enthusiast, you should know how to check oil. Search for best oil brand!

Just an update. I just called ICBC and they have determined that the other driver is 100% at fault, I kind of knew... but it's always good to have that confirmed. Now I can go ahead and get myself a rental car.

My car was also being estimated for repair works today, but there's no detail yet.

You are entitled to a rental car of equal quality and class, be sure they don't give you a kia or something.
