I just purchased my first car last week and of course it had to be an RX-8. I searched for months to find the perfect one and then I found it. Or at least I thought so at the time. There was one flaw with the car: it had these hideous gold pin stripes on the side. Pin stripes just do not belong on a car like this. I decided that wasn't a big deal and I could just take them off. After buying the car and taking off the stripes, I found these two thin dark lines. I took it to a collision center and they attempted to wet sand and buff it out. It didn't work and they said it was under the clear coat of paint. My options were to repaint the car, leave it as is, or add another stripe. I haven't got the money to repaint the car so that's out of the picture. I can either add a stripe or leave it with the two small ugly stripes. Attached is a picture that I added the stripe I purchased today in photoshop to my car. Let me know what you think before I have someone apply it!

 

I like your solution. If you had to do something, this wasn't bad.

 

I've added another option to the top. I might have to buy some more vinyl but this one stretches to the end. Which is better?

 

Yeah, I'd take it out to the end of the car as you do in the second one. It gives it a better sense of flow, but in the end it has to be what you think is good.

 

Length of the car is better, option 2.

 

Now I need to find more vinyl to add to it. Maybe I'll just put on what I have and add the end later.

 

I also realize you bought the black already but it might look better in silver than black. Black vinyl may be a little flat where as a silver has a little specular to it and continues the flake of the car. Just a thought.

 

I would use the fisrt one but with out the dashes.

I'm not a fan of stripes, but I actually like the look of this a lot!

 

Turns out that I'm gonna go with the first option. I'm not 100% sure about the dashes but I think they add a bit of character. I'll post a picture of them either today or tomorrow once I get them put on.
