RX-8 and Winter...
Hi,guys!I have to use Rx-8 in a cold climate at winter and at hot summers...I wanna know is Rx-8 proplem`s car or not.Cause at special rotary service in Moscow guys tell about often reclamations after winter.And the main problems are:electronical blocks of control,such as ESP,rear...So may be somebody know how to protect?

We use just winter rims with thorns...Like theese...I wanna know about problems with expluatation.If i used Potenza at winter,i`d repaired my cars after 3 days maximum after snowfall.

I wanna put a plastic panel under the engine like on other cars,but somebody tell that engine will be overheating.So i don`t know what to do...Because i don`t have a warranty,and 20-30% of RX-8 that expluatate in Moscow are have problems with electronics after winters...

Thats an interesting studded snow tread...what is it? As NoTears316 mentioned I also used studded snows on my vehicles when I lived in Valdez, Alaska and never had an issue getting around safely. That was on a Tahoe though, and the only things you have to consider with the low-slung RX8 is snow depth, grit being kicked-up chipping the window and paint finish, and the risk of other vehicles running into you....

What is it with you guys. I drive my car all year around in Sweden, winter and summer, I`e a Rx-8, 4- seat, 4- doors sedan, 6- speed, 231 hp car running as a familycar every day. It doesn`t matter if the temperatur is -30 deg C or +30 deg C, the car has to do her work as well. My Rx-8 get her service every 20000 km and will be washed nessesary or not every year in March.
My car is doing HER jobb very very well and untill now her behavior is very nice. Today she has done 71000 km and the fuelcons. is 12.5 lit/ 100 km.
What more can you expect.

You might consider a battery warmer - frozen and low amp batteries will make your electronics do wierd stuff - you might want to have a more powerful battery installed at the begining of each winter season. Studs on tires nice on ice. Use good antifreeze in fluids... good luck - ours did OK last year in 107 degrees F. , but we didn't do any runs longer than 200 miles at that temperature. Did Ok at 21 degrees F. except for battery weakness - in both piston and rotary cars and also well house battery.

My swedish friend is rotary maniacI wash my car every week...And i don`t know how`s his car eats 12 liters per 100km...My car eats 16-21 liters per 100 km...In germany this car ate 12 too...I think that the reason is our petroleum....Cause the consistanse is not so deep like european...
