Cool Salty.....

Here in northern Canada I use a stick-on 250watt sump warmer, and like Winfree says, a battery warmer. I use a 60watt plate type underneath which also serves to block the cold air vents at the bottom of the box.

I only wash monthly, the only salt corrosion I have after three winters is on the front of the block, because it is so hard to get the spray in there.

No problems starting, even at -30*

I also had an engine heater. I remember how stupid it looked after I moved out of Alaska and I had that cord sticking out of my front grill.

Ha! In the US stone-age tech is cheap. Cheap is good enough. Screw the environment. This message was approved by the US government of the united States of Republicans.

Has any of you tried the Tyre-Grip spray over the stock tires?

Based on feedback, I'm thinking of giving it a shot next winter. My stockers still have a lot of tread left and I'm not ready for all season tires.

stock tires in snow is a bad idea, the one day i ended up driving to work cause i didn't check the weather and we got 2in of snow in the middle of my shift, couldn't get out of the parking lot, had to hitch a ride with one of my coworkers with an sti and snow tires, a few weeks later i had snow tires and no problems, once winter was over i just had the stocks remounted, some day i'll invest in wheels so i can just swap a few days before

Thanks for the input. I didn't phrase my question correctly.
My question was more about the effectiveness of the spray. As you know, even light snow makes stock tires useless, like getting in and out of the parking lot.

I don't use my RX-8 in snow, but I have to move the car when the snow sweeper arrives to clear the snow. I had 3 guys push my car (1 guy to push and 2 to stabilize) because it wouldn't budge. Chains and slabs of carpet are a bit of a pain, so I'm wondering if the spray will do the trick
