Is This Rx 8 Worth It???

Hey guys im close to buying an Rx 8 and i really liek this one. Its a 04 Grand Touring Ed. 6Spd with 19k miles on it. Now the seller is selling it for $19,500, so is that a good price because i saw the MSRP for a 04 with 20k miles to be for $25k. Feel free for any input Thnx.

Terrible. I'd say that car is worth probably 18.5k at most..

'07's are out so that car is 3 years old. Do you really want the Grand Touring package that bad? It just adds weight.

I have a red 04 and I'm happy with it, no major problems. No differences between 04s and 05s as far as I can tell, maybe some minor tweaking with some stuff at most.

The GT package isn't bad, it's great if you expect to use your car a lot every day. It just adds a little weight and may slow you down a couple tenths of a second in a quarter mile, so some people would be happier without it.

I think you could find an RX-8 with much less than 19k miles for that price.

Search the forums.

From what I have seen $19K is a good price assuming the car is in good/excellent condition. Check around (like on the RX-8-for-sale section of the forum) and see if you can get a better deal. If you can't or if they are rare then go for it.

I just got an 04 AT Touring with all the toys, 19k miles, for 20k. No matter what people tell you, if YOU feel like you got a good deal, then you got a good deal. I would have paid more for this car (well, they did want 27k for it). I have no regrets about the price. Spend some time in an 8 and you will realize it is worth every penny.

Ya because I am tryign my hardest to get a good deal, but the dealer said he will only go as low as 19,490. I was just wondering how much will it be with taxes and etc.

That car would be worth about $18400 on a dealer lot in Texas, $16800 from aprivate individual. Take your time, it won't sell fast at that price. Check Ebay.

The big thing that really decides purchase price is how much you want that specific one at that specific moment.

If you feel that you can wait a while and shop around, you obviously don't want it for $19.5k
Heck, just showing interest in the car but commenting that you will be shopping around may get the dealer to drop some off the top for you after a week or two of waiting.

Go to www.edmunds.com and check out their true market value (some mystical number they come up with which should represent what most people are paying).

Go here and put in the details. This should give you some idea to go on. And don't be in such a rush. RX-8s are not selling so even better deals may be out there. Tell them you're going to look around a bit. The deal sounds reasonable to me depending on where you are (put all that into the edmunds link). Good luck.

Thnx for all the input guys this helps alot. Now that I put the info on edmunds it gave me the "National Base Price" of $19,500 and with all the options and stuff added it gave me a "Certified Used Vehicle" price of $26,342. Now I do not know if thats how much the car will be with all the taxes at the dealer but it seems too much for me. I want it with every thing (taxed, etc) for $20k. What do you guys think, is the price right or should it be lower for a 04 20k mileage Rx 8.

Wait a week, go back to the dealer, and tell him you'll pay 20k out the door, take it or leave it. Worked for me.

It is a buyer's market for used RX-8s. If you can wait, keep searching for the right car. I found one after a couple months. I got a 2005 GT with 11.5K miles for $19K out the door from a private seller.

I avoided 2004's due to the potential problems and all the flashes and small fixes.
