Exclamation RX-8's Official Arrival Date!

Follow up for all of you guys awaiting the Rx-8. I ordered mine in the 1st pre-order group 2/19 and got the email everyone did 3/19 that the "factory has accepted" my order. I have been hounding Mazda Corp since then and finally got a TRUE estimate of time of delivery.

First Order: July 2003

Second Order: August 2003

Third Order: September 2003 w/o "free gift"

No Rx-8's are ready with VIN's, none have been shipped, but production is going very well. The first Rx-8's will hit the west coast (they still might receive their cars in June), the rest of the nation will be after 7/4/03. This was information from an email and a personal follow telephone call 4/22/03 7pm

Sorry for the good, bad, or realistic news

HERE IS THE EMAIL I GOT TODAY:
Forgive me since I am not to computer savy, I merely cut and pasted it from my Hotmail account:

Here is the entire email:
Hello Sunil,

Thank you for contacting Mazda North American Operations. I appreciate
the opportunity to respond to you.

The e-mail notifications can range from 7 days to 45 days depending on
the building process.

There are other options that are available for the RX-8. You may find
all of these options on the RX-8 website
www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/rx8/index.jsp).

Regarding the delivery date, it really depends on which allocation your
vehicle was ordered. Only your Mazda dealership will be able to inform
you which allocation you belong to. The approximate delivery date may
range from June to September.

Thank you again and congratulations on your decision to order the brand
new Mazda RX-8!

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda. It has been my pleasure to
assist you. If for any reason this response has not completely
satisfied you, please feel free to reply to this message. You may also
contact our Customer Assistance Center toll-free at 1-800-222-5500.

2/19 is the first group if January slots for 1/26 and 1/29 were not filled. Since I was negotiating price with my dealer since the first email hit about the Rx-8 in January, he claims I am in the 1st pre-order list. We will see. I just hope I get the car sometime in Summer NOT FALL

RotoRooter -- was this info above from your Mazda Dealer, or Mazda USA, or who? The e-mail you posted does not mention these dates.

no, but seriously, what is the validity of those dates? how does this one "special" customer service representative know more than every other rep? furthermore, Mazda's customer service representatives have as much knowledge as a thumbtack...

basically i'd need to see something on paper...i can't simply believe information from someone who heard it from someone who heard it from someone, especially when it comes from the Internet...

(or maybe i'm just in denial cuz i have absolutely no patience and i care not to believe that i have to wait 3 months longer...nah, that can't be it)

I understand what you're saying, but do you really believe what's on a piece of paper is any more valid than what someone tells you?

honestly, dude, i'm more responsive to actual written words or mroe suggestive proof than to word of out...if you show me an actual Mazda webpage with these dates i'd be more than happy to believe...yet someone's conversation with someone else can get translated in so many different ways that the actual conversation can get skewed...

in the end, i'll only believe it when i see it...i'm gonna keep my eyes open from the beginning of May until I get my car

Re: RX-8's Official Arrival Date!

The dates that are given are just the average dates that are specified in the "Pre-Sell" FAQ sheet. Here is what is specified in the FAQ sheet:

Q: How long can I expect to wait to take delivery of my MAZDA RX-8?

A: Mazda dealers will place orders with the factory three times during the Pre-sell Program period. For orders placed in January, expect delivery between June -- August 2003. For orders placed in February, expect delivery between July -- September 2003. For orders placed in March, expect delivery between August -- October 2003. Please keep in mind that these dates are guidelines and may vary depending on the order.

The average delivery dates for each of the order groups are July, August, and September. So the TRUE estimate is no different than what has been officially stated all along.

- at least it means that they're still on schedule!!

But does it depends on your area/location? Cuz my local dealer (west coast) told me that if I order in early April, I can still be able to get the car in early June, which is only two months in between. Is that possible?

Red face

I'm sorry I got everybody in a hissy over my posting! I have been hounding Mazda Corp for a freakin' long time and when I finally got a written and then follow verbal reply from them, I figured it was worth posting. If you notice that was my first posting ever . . . I do not believe in mucking up good thread lines with nonsense garbage of he said she said. Listen guys, believe what you will but these are the realistic dates that were given. As for Mazda reps being as dumb as a thumbtack, I spoke to someone who called himself a supervisor and he seemed very sharp about this car. He knew the maker of the Navi, the material used in the rotary accent package, the slide of the sunroof, etc, etc, etc. After I got off the phone with him, I felt VERY comfortable I spoke to a MAZDA KNOWER. Sorry, for the bad news, but I think it is realistic. BTW, Now that it is almost May, has anyone gotten a VIN yet? I didn't think so . . . so why do you think you are getting your car in 2weeks?

From what I have read the first preorder ended after just a week or so. The next 2 were about one month each. I saw the exact dates somewhere... Anyway 2/19 was in the second if not third pre-order.

PS: I have a message from Mazda dated 1/27 that says "Currently, the estimated release time of the RX-8 is July of 2003. Please keep in mind that this is only an estimated time frame, thus the actual release time may vary."

It won't be here in 6-8 weeks...trust us.

I also have a 2001 Eclipse with 40k on it and not one (knock on wood) problem. My friend has almost 60K on hers and no problems (knock on wood). What's wrong with yours?

Wow. Seriously not one problem with both of our cars. Do you have a GT, GS or RS? Sounds like you got a lemon though.
