RX-8's speed

If you caught the recent episode of Top Gear, they ran the new and last gen Civic SIs against each other, and it was no contest. The last gen absolutely demolished the new one, in acceleration and especially in handling.
I highly doubt the new Civic SI runs a 14.1 1/4 mile. That's pretty close if not matching a 350Z.

According to some magazine the SI can run a 14.1 stock but i dont see it happening. I have raced to many of them and every time they can hang in 1st but when i hit 2nd its over for them. I can beat them by about 4-5 lengths. Keep in mind this was all before i installed the nitrous and agency power pulley.

total BS with a load of horse$hit.
Had an annoying one tried to race me in my family wagon not a long ago. I left it for dead. By 3rd it was rotting way back with vtec screaming in painful shame. I don't think my 92x is a 14s car.

The 07 SI is crap. I started behind one at a stoplight, stayed behind him until we hit 100, then I whipped around him like he wasnt even moving. I could have passed him from the beginning, but I decided to let him feel good before I crushed him. It was funny because we were both going to the same place. When I talked to him he was soo shocked that I beat him

Coming from a 99 Grand Prix GTP, the 8 is slow. The GTP is a 240hp v6 with a roots blower giving it its go...and gobbs of low end torque. Mine was also very modified and would have been capable of high 12's in the quarter had it been running long enough to get it tuned properly and assuming a good launch.
My 8, an auto, is a dog below 4k. I don't mean to say this in a totally negative manner since I absolutely adore this car, but it's just not a fast car. It looks amazing, is quick enough, a pure blast to drive. It's not a drag warrior, but how many mopar tanks can toss a corner at 45 w/o breaking a sweat. Go test drive one if you can. You'll love it

Your Saabaru is most definitely a 14 second car. Especially if you were lucky enough to get the 2.5 liter. You act like it's not a loosely disguised WRX.

My Mazda story
So on Friday night, I take out my 05 MT, stock, with drop in K&n out to alligator alley, basically one big straightaway that cuts east - west across south florida. Tremendous visibility, you can see for miles ahead of you, no intersections whatsoever. At 2AM, the thing was completely, completely empty.
My top speed was 143 mph.
I would also like to mention that I got 2 speeding tickets that night (at the same time), one for 137 in a 70, and one for 98 in a 70.
From what they tell me, I will lose my Rexy privileges for a month, not to mention fines and possibly a fat insurance increase, as the judge is sure to suspend my license.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Guys, please please don't do stupid **** like that.
With that said, that was probably the only chance I would have ever had to see Rexy's top speed in person.
Damned expensive pay to play scenario.

Ellensburg, WA. I decided to pin her ears back. Plane caught me, didn't even see him.
I did see the trooper standing in my lane pointing at me to pull over. After briefly considering how far away I could be by the time he got back in his car ( ahhh...the folly of youth!) I pulled over (strategically under an overpass to shield said officer from the blistering heat of the sun on a 90 degree day. He was friendly enough asking facetiously if I was trying to set a "new land speed record?"
"No sir... you see, sir, I just purchased the car and got carried away on that downhill back there, sir."
He said, "Well, you weren't the fastest ever but you were the fastest this week."
128 m.p.h. is what they clocked me at.
Pulled over at the same time was a white Honda Prelude I had briefly toyed with coming out of Spokane. As I pulled away with a big fat ticket I wasn't about to contest, I passed six or so chaser cars that were just waiting for me to blow by officer friendly. Glad I didn't.

like a CAI is the biggest mod in the world. by your logic that CAI adds 2 seconds to his run. from crappy to decent. i wish all CAIs did that.
i couldnt find the video where a guy pulls a 14.1 then pulls around to the camera man and opens his hood. stock engine. so you'll have to take my word for it. but either way, you cant ignore a civic si with just a CAI doing a 14.2.

Wow, all these drive fast stories make me glad that when I did stupid stuff in my youth I was in foxbody. I NEVER got a ticket in that thing. Many tried, no one suceeded.
Now I go to the track and drive fast.
