Do you need awd? We had an Infiniti EX35 before trading it for the FX50.
Anyway, it's RWD. Handles great for its class, very nicely appointed, and best of all... The 3.5 liter 6 puts out around 310hp in that trim. Combined with the 7 speed auto my wife used to smoke our son in his R3 on the highway. Mostly because it really aggravated him. Lol.
I'm a big fan of the EX35.

Have you test driven the CX-5 with the new 2.5 liter engine?
It's quite a bit better than the 2.0.
Yesterday my gf and I took one on a very, very extended test drive (well over 110 miles), up into the mountains, and tested the living daylights out of it. The new engine has good power, even climbing steep hills, at over 9k feet.
Then again, if you need a compact SUV that does 0-60 in under 7 seconds, you might as well look at a used Porsche Cayenne.
BC.

I just ordered the X1 s28i, Msport for Euro delivery. The torque starting at 1250 rpm makes it feel like a diesel, and the gas mileage should average 50% more than RX8.
It's for the wife, but I'll be the one driving, and still have a 33k mile used RX8.
The X1 is claimed to be a rear wheel drive wagon ( I don't care for the 4 wheel drive versions) with crossover body to appeal to suv people. the center of gravity is low enough to take to track, and I'm pretty sure it's quicker than my 8.
The price is about $33k + ttl
