hey. i havent had time to read this whole thread, i don't really know where the converstion is by this point, but i wanted to put my 2 cents in. I myself am 16, and i bought my 8 about 2 months after i got my license (April 2007). I made the money (actor), commercials, tv, film, and am paying every month and half of the insurance, as well as gas, service, mods, etc. My parents were against my decision, but the deal was too good to pass up. I work part time at a Ford dealership and my boss told me he could, because of low demand, get me a 04 with all the options (except NAV) in the mid 17s. I eventually, after waiting for 6 weeks got one. Insurance sucks, and yes ive done some stupid ****. You get out of that phase of flooring it constantly after a while, for me it was when i realized i was getting some 12 mpg after the second week of having the car, but now i drive it like i would any other car. Of course every once in a while there is a time where i go through the gears quickly, but for the most part, the sensation/ want to go fast can be tamed. I plan on keeping my 8 for a while, and continue to mod. For me its a great car. If you feel you can keep yourself under control, and not worry about impressing your friends/girls, go for it.
