One day, shortly after purchasing my RX-8, I was parking in a lot next to a new Toyota Camry. As I pulled in next to it, the older woman who owned the Camry stopped and watched me. The look on her face appeared to be one of concern mixed with a bit of aggitation. Did she think that I was going to hit her car or damage it somehow? I figured as much at the time. She just stood there watching me, so I rolled my window down and politely asked,
"What in the hell are you looking at you scraggly old broad? Get your Camry lovin' *** out of my sight before I give you a taste of my pimp hand!"
Okay, I didn't say that at all, but as soon as I stepped out of my car, she asked,
"Is that the new Mazda 3?"
I was devastated and responded appropriately by keying her car when her back was turned and speeding away as quickly as possible......JUST KIDDING! About the last part that is.

Stuck in traffic today on the way to FL. Some old guy motioned for me to roll down my window. "Does that have a radial engine?" I said, "yeah, but Mazda changed the name to rotary for some reason." "Ok, yeah, rotary." "Beautiful car" . He was smiling a big smile, so was I

To do the mushroom slap, do a Dragon Punch, then hit Square.
Next time someone asks if it's a 350Z, I'll smile, and then give them a kick to the throat.

The most frequent question I get (besides "Hey, can we switch cars?"), is "Is that an RX-7?"
I guess it's commendable to be confused with a great predecessor, but you'd think people would be more up to speed on some things.

I've gotten comments including " the old one was faster......" meaning rx7
"I guess Mazda never got that rotary thing figured out"
"did the gas milage ever improve?" from people who know my low MPG saga
Obviously I get mostly positive responses, to which I usually respond, "Yeah, Madza did a great job." I just have trouble taking a complement just for owning the car. Now if I worked on the design team, I'd feel a whole lot differently......

Another thing got me absolutely stunned today. Me and my girlfriend went to a small village just outside where we live to pick up some stuff at one of her friends. She went inside and I stayed outside by the car... I stood there for about one minute and a girl walked up to me and asked. "Have you ever done it in your backseat?" I got absolutely stunned. It´s not very usual to get that "comment" first thing. =) I said no, the backseat in this car isn´t made for that type of action. "Are you sure" she said and I kept on trying to be polite and nice without giving her the wrong impression. Maybe 10 minutes went by and she wouldn´t let go of the subject. Seeming kinda desperate to get me in the back of my car with her on top. Then my girlfriend came outside... Obviously the door to the house had been open all the time and she´d heard the entire conversation. Screaming at her and punshed her in the face... then we went off. I have now tried out the backseat... =)
