RX8 - Can't run the 1/4 in NZ
Just came back from Mere Mere (new zealand) where they were having the friday night drag wars .
Wanted to run my 8 just to see how she went . Anyway I get to scutineering and find they won't let me run because - get this " it's a rotary - and rotary flywheels fly to bits" . They said I had to have a sheild around the bell housing before they would let me run .
What a load of crap ! This NZDRA rule would have been written a while back after a 600-700 hp RX3 blew up on the start line (my guess ) and now they apply it as a blanket rule to all rotaries . What a bunch of ******** - this is so stupid . Think about a Honda S2000 or Integra or any other high reving engine . I suppose they are OK because they use 4 stroke steel to make their flywheels - not that weak rotary steel that flys to bits !!!!!
What really pissed me off was that I went to another drag event about a month ago and got through scrutineering only to have it rain moments before taking to the track .
NOT HAPPY

wtf does rotary have to do with the flywheel?
if you're in america, sue them for being idiots. i bet you'll get a few hundred thou.
I'd be more concerned about pistons and rods flying everywhere.
