Is the RX8 the car for me?
Hey everyone,
Just let me start by saying I've owned 3 RX7's all pre 1990. At the time I was happy with their performance.
I've started a search for a new car which will be my daily driver and occasionaly will be at the track. The RX8 is the perfect car for me on so many levels. Rear seats, 4 doors, comfortable, and good looks.
I've driven a GTI, a Mazdaspeed3 (fast!!) and a few others, but I can't force myself to drive a fwd car. So I took an RX8 for a spin a few days ago and was completely shocked with how l little power it had. I didn't expect a rocket based on the specs of the car but that was incredibly slow. I've been looking into the turbo's and mentioned it to a few people and they all cringed and said I'd kill my motor. Is there any realistic way to get huge hp, and more importantly gains from this motor without spending 7K. The price of the car and the turbo is putting this car in a price range with nice but used M3's and Audi s4's. Since it will be my daily driver it has to be super reliable. Would going fi put too much strain on this tiny motor. I mean it's a 1.3 putting out 238 hp, how much more can it be safely pushed.
I know the RX8 isn't all about power. A car should be balanced with power, handling, price, weight etc... With this motor this car doesn't even come close. I read about how people are happy with their power but I can't help but think they've never driven anything else.
I'm looking for a nicely balanced car. Isn't everyone? Maybe this isn't the car for me.
Comments??

I bet money that this is just another screen name for one of the people that have asked the same damn questions without doing a search over the last couple months. Malachi or effini-17 would be my guess...

Is this girl the one for me?
Hey everyone,
Just let me start by saying I've been married with the most beautiful women of the world, but yesterday after a crappy sandwich I ate I met this girl and I think I fell in love.
Should I have some sex with her before marriage or it's not necessary?

[QUOTE=Ike;2194479]So would you say that an RX-8 isn't much faster than a Scion TC, MX-5, or Mazda 3S? Answer carefully...[/QUO

Find a used rx-8 and the money you saved (compared to buying new) you can afford a turbo kit.
You can't just install a kit and call it a day. You need supporting mods and a solid tune and your laughing!

Don't speak for everybody.
I sold an E46 M3 (2003) for my 2004 RX-8. I didn't regret the decision, and while I miss the power, I enjoy the handling of the RX-8 more than what the M3 provided.
It was a great eye-catcher though
