well i just watched the great "Tuner Transformations" mechanics bastardize an RX8 with hideous graphics...wheel upgrade without lowering it...and "NAAAAAWWWWS" i was wondering if yall know if the owner of the car is on here. it looked like he wasnt all that happy when the car was brought back to him. did anyone else see the show?

I checked the listings and it said the debut was today and it is a 240 they are doing. Saw nothing on a RX-8 though.

and when the old guy picked it up from the owner to "transform" it...he TOTALLY ragged it out in the ice and snow. gettin sideways...spinning tires...redlining, etc. this is the same guy who said "i think this car would respond well with NAWS" and "this car needs some graphics" after the guy who was in charge of cosmetics said no graphics....the old **** still sneaked them on.

Yup, that was as dumb as hi rev tuners. Why do they hire a bunch of idiots to host these shows? And they used **** quality parts. Those wheels they slapped on were FUGLY!

For as hyped as the show was, they sure didn't really do much, or show much. I was bored and I own an RX-8. I can't imagine how dull the show was for non-owners.

yea,
not dissapointed it just sucked.

mentioned nos, ecu remap, sound, exterior upgrades, wheels, graphics.

came up with nos, graphics, wheels.

and a very lame confrontaton with the guy doing the sound, didnt happen. that voted against the stickers. he was right wheels good, graphics not bad but not great.

show just sucked, and i love the speedvision. the real name.

btw, did they test the nos???? come up with 0 to 50 times????? just a bunch of bs imho.

beers

that show was the lamest excuse for modding a car. the only thing it had going for it was the wheels.

are they telling me that they couldn't even track down a spoiler to "accentuate" the lines of the body? THey talk about modding the sound system but then do nothing, because of the NOS bottle? Please. That's just lame.

They spent an entire 5 minutes debating the calipers needing paint, yet they did nothing.

And the guy with the bandana arguing with everybody was pretty F'in stupid. His arguments were SOOO forced like he was trying to be the father & son duo from American Choppers.

And don't get me started on the graphic package. Ugh.

Hey guys, hows it going. I'm the one from the TV show. Yes i'm actually part of the board. I've been on the board for quite a few months now but haven't signed up or posted ever really. But some good info..

I actually just caught the show at around 12 o'clock last night..late night at work.

If you guys are curious, no I haven't actually shot the nitrous ..it's a 35 shot wet.. because of poor road conditions and the bottle was basically empty when the car was returned to me...

I'm actually in the process of building the car for the cover of Performance and Auto Sound Magazine .. so i'll be sure to give everyone pics and heads up on the development of the car in the upcoming months!

You looked like you were not very happy when you got your car back. Cant say I blame you!! The show was more about two guys trying to play Paulie and Paul senior from American Choppers, or god forbid, Monster Garage, with a forced dose of over acting. I'm not sure any of them can really turn wrenches, check your lug nuts for tightness. So good luck with your ride as I'm sure you can accomplish more than the "Tuners" did.

Those guys were weak, they had no talant and no vision.

Edit* Please tell me you pulled those ugly *** graphics off. Also are you upset that they put N20 and killed your warrenty? And did they put the TP sensors back in your new rims?

I was totally thinnking the same thing. This show was terrible. You could even tell that the owner of the car wasn't even remotely impressed with the "transformation" that supposedly took place. The wheels reminded me of old skool Enkie Suzukas with Hyper Black paint (not gunmetal like their "styling expert" claimed) I really hated the graphics they did not go with the car or the current trends. And dammit the nitrous voided the guy's powertrain warranty and he can't take the parts off b/c the drilled into his stock intake.

About the only good thing these guys did to the car was wash it.

Good luck to the poor guy I'm sure he's already undone some of the crap they did to his car.

Just my $.02

It was pretty amusing when they brought the car back to the guy, they had a shot of zooming out from that chick's *** to a full shot of the car. :D

Yeah! They spent more time arguing with each other than on the actual modding of the car!

i was gonna post a review but i guess i will drop it here

Well last night was the 1st show in SPEED TV's new lineup called Tuner Transformation. Its dubbed as High-concept reality series marries elements of the popular home transformation programs to the automotive aftermarket, as each week and unsuspecting participant hands over his keys to his for a radical makeover he knows nothing about. Then, on every exciting episode of TUNER TRANSFORMATION our experts take an owner's humble ride and stage the ultimate performance transformation - in complete secrecy!

The car in question for this 1st show was an Rx8. First of all it dynoed stock at around 178whp and 134wtq. Wowzers. They then added a brake package (pads/lines/rotors/not calipers), 19inch wheels, vinyl graphics, and a nitrous shot.
Ground breaking crap I tell ya!

Ok so performance.......they hit the dyno again with the NOS and hit like 200something whp and 209wtq. Great jump in torque there. But as we all know....NoS = cheap heat. Then they were testing 0-60 in a wet parking lot with a gtech? Cmon!

So anyway my gripe with the show besides their crappy approach to modding this 1st car is the hosts and the format. This show could be sooooooooooo good but the first crack at it was so lame. They had the obligatory hottie trying to wax intellectually about cars in which she had no idea, modding a car with the worst vinyl ever, and a host who never saw a nitrous purge valve placed by the hood to "showoff".

Also disappointing was the drama that the episode tried to create. Like this tension and arguing ala "Orange County choppers" between the shop guys that looked forced and scripted.

In short this show can be really really good. For the time being I’m placing it alongside Hi-Rev Tuners on the watch able scale.

In closing ill echo this poster:

OK, not one to pile on but here goes. Import guys get enough grief from the few who slap a big wing, horrible wheels, a falling off body kit and call it a tuner car. I'm older then that demographic but I'll watch you hot rod lawn mowers if you do it right. Get some serious tuners with serious tips and you'll be the leader from the start. We all enjoy cars, that's why were here, but most of us do use our brains. Salvage it now, right idea wrong execution.
/sigh\

Yeah, for a show that was suposed to be all this high end tuning, I found a shot of nitrous to be a pretty sad first attempt. Didnt like the gfx either. If it was my car I woulda been mighty disapointed.

The show was awful. If it were my car I would have forced them to pay me to pretend to like the car, then promptly removed the graphics. Those "tuners" were the lamest bunch ever. They managed a grand total of three mods? Thats it. The only thing worth **** they did was the rims.
Please, I hope you have removed the graphics and I am sure you are doing better things with your vehicle than those ricing idiots.

So what mfg/brand are those wheels? They looked really nice.

Also it seemed they were pronouncing "Mazda" differently than I'm used to here in Texas. Must be some northern accent.

Thanks y'all.

The rims was even a bad move, 19" will slow the car down even. They should go with a lighter 18" or down to 17", not up a size. Well, I guess the performance of the car is not as important as the vinyl graphics in this show.

And no, NOS is not a good performance mod, maybe for a drag car but RX8 is not design to be a drag car. I hate to say this but Import Tuner was a better show, lol.

I think they are in Canada, notice the headlight sprayer and the way the old guy said "about".

for those who missed this show like me, and actually want to see it, speedtv dot com lists:

Tuesday, February 24, 2004
7:00 pm Tuner Transformation Mazda RX-8
11:00 pm Tuner Transformation Mazda RX-8

Friday, February 27, 2004
9:00 am Tuner Transformation Mazda RX-8

Saturday, February 28, 2004
5:00 pm Tuner Transformation Mazda RX-8
8:30 pm Tuner Transformation Mazda RX-8

what i don't quite understand is that speedtv lists the car for the show on 17 feb, to be the 240SX. fwiw, here's the next times that show will air:

Friday, February 20, 2004
10:00 am Tuner Transformation Nissan 240 SX

Saturday, February 21, 2004
6:00 pm Tuner Transformation Nissan 240 SX
9:30 pm Tuner Transformation Nissan 240 SX

(all listed are Eastern time zone)

i will prolly watch both shows just 'cause. have to admit that i'm not real excited about it.

Godspeed,
dennis
