RX8 clutch warranty

I recently had a problem with my RX8 clutch linings going bad on my 2004. The dealership doesn't want to replace it under warranty because it is a wear and tear item. My problem with this is the car only has just over 15,000 miles on it of which 75% at least is highway mileage which I typically use cruise control for. I called the 1800 number who simply stated that the only thing I could do is formally write Customer mediation.

Does this seem like crap to anyone else? Are there any other channels I try to communicate through?

Why not just go with an aftermarket clutch that would (if its not a warranty item) be cheaper and better?

wear and tear and squeaks and rattles are only covered for 12months or 12k miles. however; if the car is torn down and the clutch is NOT worn, but broken, then it is covered.

if you're going to ask for stuff, ask nicely. most of the time the clutches are just worn out.....

doesn't it seem kinda odd to have a cars clutch go bad after only 15,000 miles or is this normal? I'm not a big car guy, but this seems kinda crummy.

It also depends on how you drive it, riding it and dumping it arent good for it but somtimes things are just defective. ive got 36,000 on my stock clutch and it still grabs great.

things like the clutch and brakes are very driver dependent. if you drive it right (no slipping or dumping the clutch) it will last the life of the car. if you slip the clutch on takeoff, or use it to hold the car still on a hill etc etc clutch life goes down.

dont mean to threadjack, but for a newbie stick driver, can you explain slipping the clutch on takeoff? i thought this was normal, i.e. "ease off the clutch"
