rx8 died on way to texas today..

Well Im in killeen tx but not w/ my rx8... was driving down i 35 south w and my car started dieing and bogging and died on me on the side of the road. so i had to get it towed to classic mazda in some town that starts w/ a d. and im pretty sure my apex seal went b/c the other day i was sprayin nitrous andhad a backfire, i checked everything and it ran fine and what not. must have weakend the seal and it finally gave out on the way here. so now im screwed b/c i have my nitrous and everything on there so the dealer most likely isnt going to warrenty anything. so i have a 2009 mercury marquise!! hopefully its not a seal and its something else but i almost bet its the apex seal! i still try to make it to the meet if im here that long since so far its costed me 350 dollars just for a rental and im going to have to pay outa pocket to get the car fixed!

Did you check your upper intake manifold closely? I've heard of a few people that have blown theirs up using a wet shot. If it was a detonation and not a back fire, then your engine is probably toast as you say. Sorry to hear

^no if the dealer sees that it's sprayed and voids the warranty they will input it into the computer that it's voided and the reason and any place he goes will put in the vin and will see "WARRANTY VOIDED BECAUSE OF NITROUS OXIDE"

sorry to hear hopefully nothing major

if it is the engine, i would get charles R hill out there to rebuild your engine.

it'll cost less than having a dealership replace your engine.

Ok guys here we go. the bottle had 6lbs of nitrous in it, and what happen was b4 i left home i kept the bottle in my house on a heater b/c its cold in iowa well i put it in my car and opened the bottle and it had like 1250psi ALOT of pressure, then i started my drive to texas and about 20 min later i figured it cooled down enough so i purged the system and as soon as i sprayed it just went BOOM and the car died. S i started it back up and it drove fine nothing wrong, so i figured i got lucky. then 10 hours later it started like if i give it gas would make a boggy noise and would not accelerate until it died and i had to pull on the edge of the road. and car would not stop so i called a tow truck, about 40 min later he came and i tried to start it and it started up idle was fine but i did notice some fluid on the ground. Then we turned it around so he could hook up to it and tow it.

I would think if i blew a seal it would have rough idle like my old motor. this is a re many motorabout 6 months old w/ 10k miles on it. Ive sprayed so many times had no problems, im sure it was just too much pressure and it could handle it. The dealer seemed pretty cool i told him my situation and i was coming to see my cousin back from iraq in killeen and his brother came back too, so he hooked me up w/ his rental rates and seemed like he was gona work w/ me to fix the car. i wont know till monday whats wrong w/ it for sure, he did call me later today sayin he put the latest pcm flash on it or on the to do list, so maybe they have an idea and its not blown i dunno...

I shoulda took pictures of my car gettin towed but i was so pissed i didnt think of it till now. Now im pimpin in an 09 mercury marquise!lol

^haha yeah he is in AZ but known to travel! yeah it does not sound like a blown engine if it ran ok and everything...dont know a ton about Nitrous but that is a hellof a lot of pressure! What kind of fluid was it? What color was it if you don't know what it is?
